Great trip to Savannah Super impressed with this location. Yes it's a little far from downtown but it is conveniently right off the highway, safe, close to lots of eating, shopping and activities and clean! My room was a mini apartment. I had a square with a kitchen counter/ fridge and microwave, table and chairs, living area, bedroom and bathroom with two closets. This was an excellent space to live for the week. Housekeeping was great. I saw them cleaning rooms and they are detail oriented. I asked them to come up to look at a plug that wasn't working and while they were there they added lining to the shower because they noticed some water on the floor. Very attentive. We found staff friendly and professional. We enjoyed the tea and coffee station. While I was here I shopped at Walmart twice around the block, ate at Cheddars, and the Mexican restaurant and my coworkers did the bowling arcade. All great experiences very close by. Savannah is a great place to visit. We also made it to the downtown area and visited the Bee Garden! These were all positive experiences, and we still have more fun to be had in the future. I have a blog and offer budget travel suggestions and itinerary ideas. My link is in my profile if you want more ideas for Savanah fun.

Don’t stay here! Poorly managed because it starts at the top. Huge amenity of the indoor pool and yet for the last year clearly the heater is broken and can’t believe it’s not being fixed. The hot run is covered now so I’m sure it’s a broken heater. It’s sooooo cold my kids who swim in cool water won’t get in and wouldn’t last year either. Should be a priority in managing a property to fix things like that. The room was dirty had to change sheets. The shower was dirty. When we got here no one was at the desk and many walked by and went to a staff room instead of seeing how they could help. Took a while before anyone came. There are so many other hotels around here I won’t stay here again.

Wonderful Suites This hotel is not far from the historical district, but the suites are excellent, and less expensive than downtown. You can easily drive into the historic district, park and enjoy what there is to see there. We have stayed at this Embassy Suites several times over the years, and have always had a pleasant stay. These are true suites, with a separate bedroom, separate sitting area all insulated from any noise with actual doors that close. Most hotels that advertise suites are in fact only oversized rooms. This property has an evening reception Monday through Thursday, with complimentary drinks, wine, beer, liquor. There is a very light assortment of snacks, but not much. In years past they would serve hot appetizers, but those days are gone. They also serve a cooked to order hot breakfast in the mornings. Very good, lots of items to choose from. If you want quiet, newer, and clean this is a good choice while visiting Savannah.

Checked Into an Occupied Room! My first set of keys didn't work after check-in so I had to return to the lobby with luggage in tow. I was given new keys, went back upstairs, and opened the door INTO AN OCCUPIED ROOM. I went back downstairs again, quite unhappy, and was surprised at the assistant manager's unconcerned attitude about the situation. Simply, "Oh, we'll get you another room..." as if it was no big deal. It then took an additional 30 minutes for them to find a vacant room to check me in to. Third attempt was successful. Didn't see a single nametag on any staff members during my two-night visit in January. Hotel was not in great shape, with the walls, doors, and furniture showing signs of much wear and tear. I think the pic on my room door below gives an idea of the general condition of the hotel. The manager's reception food was sad. Skip it. Hotel appears to be understaffed (only one person working the front desk during a busy check-in, 25-minute wait for an omelet at 7:30am breakfast). TLDR; Do Not Recommend!

On the road home Would actually rate 3.5. Check in was fast and friendly . Agree with recent reviews that the 5:30-7:30 Buffet/ happy hour spread was sparse but we were warned at check in . Actually by 6:30 all they had were nacho chips left. We were ordering food in so not a big deal for us but disappointing that they don’t prepare for a full hotel . Pool was absolutely freezing cold . The pool room was very warm but even the kids who normally don’t care couldn’t enjoy it . Very disappointing for kids cooped up in a car looking to expend energy . Based on past reviews this seems to be the norm . Spa is boarded up . Hotels need advertised facilities to be in working order. Elevators were fast and luggage carts were plentiful . Lots of restaurants close by . The Walmart around the corner was a bit lacking and stock was lacking and looked like it had been rummaged through . Hotel beds comfortable and the rooms were quiet which was good for sleeping .
