Birthday visit Stayed here previously and always enjoyed it. On this stay unfortunately not as enjoyable. On arrival was greeted by a not so regal display of Xmas decorations. The Xmas tree was large in reception but not greatly decorated and the rest of the decorations i have to say was dire in most of the bar area / breakfast room and seating area near reception. Decor in the restaurant had a better attempt at Xmas and so did the spa reception area. It’s not all about Xmas I know but with such a bigger and better hotel you’d have thought more effort would be made. One of the female staff behind the bar not really welcoming complaining all the time she has to do everything so wasn’t rushing. Each time we sat in the seating area it was freezing no heating on or very little even having an evening meal in the restaurant was uncomfortable so we ate out. If we had a drink from the bar we sat in our coats. Breakfast was a bit chaotic simply because the hotel had a venue the sat evening so was very busy. Waiting for the buffet replenishing was a long time but the 3 girls on duty did their best and kept professional going about their duties. Stayed in room 157 which was very clean and spacious also very warm but next door to a room staff had access to. When entering or exiting the room it seems the door is left to close by itself with a bang !! Not ideal for guests next door. The gym and spa which we always use is full of quality equipment and the spa a lovely experience.

Standard coastal hotel Stayed here as a couple for 1 night. The hotel itself is dated (as most coastal hotels are), with some obvious wear and tear on furniture throughout. We had an Executive Double with Sea View room and this was spacious however the plumbing didn't seem to be working properly - the tap water ran very slowly and the toilet sometimes didn't flush. It also smelt very badly of drains when we first arrived however this seemed to clear after a couple of hours. The bed was very comfortable however it was boiling in the night, even though the heating didn't appear to be turned on, the room was very stuffy. The breakfast was decent however we were often waiting for food/drinks to be replenished. There didn't seem to be enough staff for the volume of customers. The location is great with gorgeous sea views, and it's just a short 10 minute downhill walk into the town. However what goes down must come up! So if a taxi back is needed it's only around £4. Overall we had a nice time and the above issues weren't a huge impact on our stay, just a slight dampener. It's a decent coastal hotel, however I wouldn't necessarily rate it as a 4*. Sadly these coastal towns just don't get enough funding to be able to keep up with renovations/décor updates etc.

Events Megan at the Crown Spa Hotel was very helpful when hosting our event. The food was complimented by guests and the overall service was good.

Perfect solo break Had a lovely stay for two nights . Room was great . Bed comfy , shower powerful and plenty hot water . Enjoyed using the spa facilities. Swim , sauna , steam , jacuzzi . Very relaxing hotel . Only negative thing was last night on fifth floor people came back to their room at 2 am talking loud and letting their door bang so woke me up . Not hotels fault just inconsiderate people . Would definitely come back . I didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t comment about the food .
