What a hidden gem We were doing an off season on the Oregon Coast. This beautiful home right on the Umqua River; about 20 miles inland, was just the spot! From elk harems, turkeys, bald eagles & loads of birds to the lighthouses, sand dunes and restaurants off season is the way to go for friendly service with no crowds. Every morning at Daybreak started with a gourmet breakfast. Stories, recommendations for excursions and lots of laughs. Shelly is the best! Pat knows all the lumber roads that we took to see “the real Oregon”. If the river hadn’t been a bit roiled, Pat would have hooked us up, pun intended, with a guide for the early salmon run. We strongly recommend Daybreak as a Go-To B&B in the region. A really good deal with great rooms, food and advice on where to go and what to see. Top Secret: Pricing is below market. Don’t tell anyone.

OUTSTANDING B&B I really like our host and hostess – and that is what they should be called! Pat and Shelly made us very welcome and we felt that we were sharing their lovely home. If it’s possible to make friends in five minutes that’s what we did. Also, Shelly is a wonderful cook and we ate a lovely meal sitting outside on the deck overlooking the river, followed in the morning by an equally incredible breakfast. Our only regret is that we had booked for just one night. If it was possible we would have stayed for a week! I recommend this B and B without hesitation to anybody. Thank you so much Pat and Shelly for making us feel so welcome and sharing your home with us.

A Definite MUST !!! What a place to unwind, even if it is for only one night. Shelly and Pat (Innkeepers) were very nice to talk to and our room was very comfortable. The outdoor areas front and back were very picturesque. Then the breakfast that Shelly prepared was fit for a King and Queen. Should we ever find ourselves out this way we would love to stay longer. FYI - You can request dinner for an additional cost but since we hadn't they recommended a restaurant nearby that was outstanding.

RIVERBANK RETREAT Daybreak Haven exceeded our expectations as a B&B offering a home away from home atmosphere with very welcoming and accomodating hosts who went above and beyond in helping us with our kayak trip. You can expect good food...plenty of it...and a clean comfortable room. The setting is optimum for a quiet relaxing time and the river just makes it idyllic.

Jewel of the Umpqua! We spent Friday and Saturday night at Daybreak Haven B&B. The owners, Pat and Shelley Ryan, are the quintessential B&B hosts. They are sincere, funny and contagiously friendly. We felt immediately welcomed into their lovely home nestled above the gorgeous Umpqua River. The rooms are well appointed with TVs, microwaves, mini refrigerators, coffee makers, resort quality bathrobes and complimentary water and snack baskets. After a very restful night, we had a 5 star quality breakfast beautifully presented and prepared by Shelley. We spent the day lounging at the house enjoying the amazing views which included sightings of an eagle, river otter, seal and many types of birds. Saturday evening we had a special dinner of freshly baked rolls and four different types of delicious soups expertly prepared by Shelley. This morning we enjoyed a delectable breakfast of filled crepes with whipped cream, fresh fruit, sliced almonds and crisp bacon. This was the most relaxing weekend we have had in years! We left feeling liked pampered old friends, not people who had been strangers just two days earlier. Our next visit, and there will be one, hopefully will include a fishing trip with Pat. His wealth of knowledge of this river and his willingness to share his fishing secrets makes one want to share in what is obviously one of his passions. Ted & Anita F Salem, OR
