Great location The Westmark Skagway is in a great location right in the heart of town. We stayed for 2 nights on a Holland Americal Cruise/tour. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our room was clean and comfy. The staff at the coffee shop area were really great . There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The town is compact and a pleasure to walk around to sightsee and souvenir shop.

Bad value and declining service. This hotel has gone completely downhill since ownership changed to Holland America. The service, from reservations to service to the state of the room is poor as prices have escalated to the point where there is not much value to a stay there. To top things off the hotel totally messed my bill. There is no way I will return.

An older hotel with small rooms. In a word, the hotel is “sufficient”. The rooms are pretty small but the bed was comfortable. We were on the side of the hotel facing the train tracks and “enjoyed” the railroad experience early each morning. We were also across the hall from the ice machine. I wanted to place an “out of order” sign on the ice maker (but didn’t). There was only one bench to hold one suitcase and we obviously had two large suitcases. That made the room even more crowded. The bathroom was good with toiletries provided and good water pressure. There is very little space to place your personal items in the bathroom. Breakfast was included with the room and again - it was sufficient. Most food items were well prepared but they were a bit slow in restocking the buffet a# dishes went empty. And we asked for a cup to take coffee back to the room and were told that we would have to pay $5 for the paper go cup. Really? It is a tourist town and it was peak tourist season so they have a captive audience.

Cruise lines can do better. Friendly staff and attentive. However, Holland & Princess cruise Line’s own these hotels and they are in desperate need of upgrading. Have stayed with Westmark hotels on our land portion cruise for 10 days. WiFi - if you are lucky, in the main lobby only. AC - good luck with that, most do not have it and you do need it! Global warming has hit here too. Rooms are stuffy, if you open the windows - don’t plan on sleeping until late at night - when it gets dark after 11 or Midnight until the younger crowd is finished with the eve. out, plus traffic noise. Beds, ok, but they do move off the wood base in some. Tv - well bring your own Dish/Direct TV - oh, wait, no WiFi. At breakfast your choice is buffet only at $22 pp - or $4 for one cup coffee. Or go somewhere else (try that with a 6:00-7:00 am depart) So good side, nice people + clean for an old old place.
