Very nice large room and super clean. While looking up hotels to stay in Socorro, this Holiday came in with a rating of 6. Since we use our Holiday Inn points we used them to stay here. After staying here, I cannot figure out why people aren’t rating this higher. We got a king suite, that was huge, everything about the hotel was clean. It looked like a brand new hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating. One of the nicest places we stayed in two weeks of traveling.

Average stay We checked in at 4:30 pm and found our room was not yet ready, even though check-in is posted for 3 pm. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long but it's not a good way to start your 3 night stay. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and nice pillows. The bathroom was average sized and functional. The microwave made a very loud whirring noise when used but worked nonetheless. Breakfast was as expected for a HIE. While the room and facilities were clean and fine enough what wasn't was the lack of staff servicing rooms and working the front desk. No daily maid service at this hotel so if you need something (towels, coffee replacement, trash removed) you must ask for it. There seems to be a real employee deficit currently happening at this hotel and customer service suffered because of it. WiFi was slow when it did work, and for most of our stay didn't work at all. We were told this was because local road construction cut a cable so all of Socorro was without WiFi. Bad timing I guess. So while Holiday Inn Express may be your best lodging option in Socorro it could be improved if it had enough staff to operate efficiently.

A good experience. Big space in main room and bathroom. Fairly new or very well maintained. Modern faucet at sink, but funky (older) shower. Good lighting. Good bed. Using wall dispensers for shampoo, etc. instead of those awful mini plastic bottles. Helpful staff throughout. Good choices in breakfast area.

Comfortable Stay This hotel is exceptionally clean. While there for a whole day, I observed the custodial staff hard at work. They vacuumed the entire hall and washed shower curtains between guests. The stairwell was carpeted and also immaculate. Breakfast had plenty of tasty, hot options that changed daily. There’s a nice Keurig in the room, and it looks like coffee is available in the lobby all day. Beds were comfortable. Lots of desk/suitcase area and plenty of storage spaces. Hooks on walls in bedroom and bathroom provided for extra hanging. The small workout room includes a stationary bike, a couple of gliders, a bench, and weights. The indoor pool is a nice size. All staff were friendly and accommodating.

Someone listened to their clients! This was one of my favorite hotels. It was like they listened to their guests suggestions and made changes. Just small things, but they made a difference - the clock showed the time on all 3 sides (no fighting with my sister), the bathroom had lots of storage and shelf space, a mirror with back lighting, each bed had 3 pillows but the pillow cases indicated if it was soft, medium or firm (genius - no guessing), comfortable bed with a down comforter, large desk area and a bench in addition to a luggage holder (no one having to put their suitcase on the floor) and great lighting all around. Breakfast was very good. The lids on the hot breakfast items were hinged so you didn't have to hold them open with one hand while juggling your plate and serving yourself with the other. They also had an ingenious machine that made 2 small pancakes at the touch of a button. You could even watch the process through a window as it made it's way along the conveyer belt (doesn't take much to entertain me). All in all, Hilton may have won me back as a customer.
