Poor room condition and service I wouldn’t recommend staying at Beach Retreat and Lodge based on our recent experience. When we checked in, the bathroom had a strong, unpleasant odor. Unfortunately, management informed us that housekeeping couldn’t be sent because cleaning hours were over, leaving us waiting over four hours and even then no one came to clean up. While the location is nice, the service and responsiveness left a lot to be desired. There are better-managed options in South Lake Tahoe worth considering.

Don't get married at this place. I was a guest of dear friends for their wedding ceremony. I was also there, at the bride's request, a few hours before the wedding to provide emotional support, address last-minute concerns, and help her get ready. I am not a wedding planner. However, I have worked as an event coordinator and manager for 8 years. For the price the couple paid to have their ceremony here, I found the service lacking. There was no coordinator or even a point person for the ceremony. There should be someone there to direct the wedding guests to their seats, cue the wedding participants, and also be present for anything else that can come up - faulty microphone, etc. Additionally, the bride ordered for vegan/vegetarian dishes to be served at the reception, and it wasn't presented as an option. No excuse was offered, and neither was a reimbursement of any kind for the latter misstep. I guess if you're just going to Tahoe to party or for the scenery, this is a decent shelter to hunker down - albeit an overpriced one. Maybe you should consider a tent on the beach instead.

Inaccurate advertisement. Disappointed! We paid $1,003 for a 3-night stay at Beach Retreat for a deluxe room with partial lake view from June 29 to July 2. Disappointedly, the facilities were less than we had anticipated. We talked to Brian, the night shift manager on the second day. Below is a list of what we experienced: *Among the many things, the shower did not work. The knob was stuck solid. Brian said the only thing he could offer was to send a repair person to fix the shower right away. It wasn’t done until the third day when I contacted Shyanne at the front desk again. Then only icy water came out, but the repair man returned readily to fix it. *There was no breakfast nor lunch served on the premises. According to advertisements and a posted announcement on the TV set in the guest room (see attached photograph), the Boathouse Restaurant was supposed to open for lunch and dinner. It served dinner only. The Sideline Pub was supposed to open for breakfast and dinner daily. It closed all 3 days while we were there. *There were two coffee makers in the lobby . One of them was broken. The ladies restroom next to it was out of paper towel at 10 am. *The pier is owned by the Beach Retreat, but no access for hotel guests, only boat renters. So no long pier walk as implied on the website photos. *No water taxis as advertised on web, at the pier, and in posted room announcement. *The laundromat machine did not work. Thank goodness, the Lake Tahoe sunset kept its promise!

Meh. Not worth the $330 a night. Very expensive at $330 a night. Breakfast was extra. We arrived on 4th Jul6. Lots of college jocks thinking they own the place. Loud thumping music that put us off going to the nearby Beach Retreat restaurant. This happened on both nites from the hotels beach bar. We assumed this would be an upmarket establishment due to the price and location, but sadly let down. Rooms were clean. Walk nearby to McDuffs for a good dinner and nice beer. If the price point was $100, I wouldn’t be so annoyed. Plus there was one complete jerk that wouldn’t let us back into the hotel grounds on the 4th July who said it was barrister off for a private party. Not sure if he was hotel staff or not. Adjacent was a large supermarket which was handy and lots of free car parking.
