Great Airport Hotel This is one of the nicest airport hotels I've stayed in for some time. Spotlessly clean, roomy, and very comfortable beds. Very close to the airport, but also quiet. Exceptional desk staff. Breakfast was adequate but plentiful, and the breakfast room is bright and clean. I cannot comment on the workout room or pool as we did not use either. Timely airport shuttle. Don't hesitate to stay with these folks.

Please go someplace else! We had a truly bad night at the Holiday Inn Express in South Portland. Though we are Elite members, we requested a room away from the elevator and instead were given a room right beside it. The area containing the beds was tiny, with walls right up to the beds. In addition, we had requested a room with two beds and were "upgraded" to a suite without being asked. The room was laid out very strangely and the TV was sideways from the bed. In order to watch TV, you had to pull it away from the wall and turn it, so it stuck out into the area by the bathroom. The two beds in our room were very small, maybe doubles. The one bed was so close to the air conditioning unit that the corner of the bed was damp and very cold. The carpet under the ac unit was wet. The other bed was only inches from the side of the closet so you couldn't get up out of bed at night. The traffic and noise from other visitors using the elevator and opening/ slamming hallway doors all night kept us quite awake. The bathroom had dirt/ mold/ mildew around the base of the tub and around the tiles above the tub. The tub stopper was a piece of round metal (like a large coin) that was not even attached to the tub, but could be used to put over the drain if you wanted a bath. The beds were soft and squishy. We had a flight to catch so we were sure to get down to breakfast right at 6:30 when they were supposed to open, but the doors were still closed. Probably a dozen others were waiting to eat as well. Inside the breakfast area bhind closed doors, everyone could hear the two breakfast employees arguing in loud voices. Breakfast was finally opened up 10 min late. When we talked to a staff person about the issues when we checked out, all we got was a "sorry".

Just off Route 95 quiet and peaceful Nana and Grandpa travelled to Portland to see our newborn grandson. Our daughter's guest room is now the nursery so we looked at many of the hotels in Portland to stay overnight as to not drive home late. July 2024 -the beginning of tourist season in Maine all the hotel prices are Up. Being IHG members, we looked at the different Holiday Inn's and Express' available. This property on Sable Oaks Drive is just off Route 95 at the Maine Mall Road. The property is close to the Portland Jetport but still a quiet location. I have a wheelchair so we got the handicap shower room King suite. The suite was again, quiet,- plenty of room - and overall clean. There was a bit of dust and bottle caps in the sofa bed so it did need to be vaccumed but we let the management staff know. Not a deal breaker... Breakfast is part of the price at HI Express.I would say usual standard fare. The breakfast manager was very helpful to me with my wheelchair. Excellent area to sit and mingle with fellow travellers. The Erie Sea Wolves were in town to play the Portland Sea Dogs -the team was staying here. We would stay here again

Nice hotel if sleep is all you are looking for. Great Bed and Great Staff! Parking is around back and down a floor with no luggage carts in the basement. You can unload out front. Lobby was bright and inviting. The staff was Amazing and very helpful! The room is spacious with a decent living room, mini fridge and microwave. The bed was super comfortable! Bathroom is very well lit, I could actually see to put contacts in and shave! The shower is a tub with a curtain and grab bar that are a complete hindrance to your movement. Slow drain on the sink, and poor water pressure in shower. The breakfast was decent, they state that it is available from 6:30 to 9 am. They do not put hot food out until 7 am. Weird. The Fitness center was very dirty, did not appear to have been cleaned in months! It also only had 3 cardio machines and Dumbbells up to 50 lbs. No towels available. The door lock worked very poorly. The Hotel had some very unclean areas. The basement, Fitness center and stairwells smelled of burning rubber, plastic, or hydraulic fluid.

Nice dog-friendly hotel Clean, spacious room (King suite), comfortable bed and pillows, very friendly/accommodating staff, in a quiet location away from all the hustle and bustle but still close enough to quickly get to attractions (about 10 min to downtown and 20 min to Fort Williams Park). What more could you need? Well, there's always something right? My minor complaints are that the water pressure in the bathroom sink was really low so that it just came out in a trickle (shower was fine), and the thermostat wasn't programmable. I've seen this same type of tstat in a few other places, and I guess it's supposed to be energy efficient? But it's annoying that you can't get the fan and temp to work how you want. Neither of these issues were enough to knock down the 5-star rating. I would definitely stay here again.
