Beautiful Hotel With Flaws This property (and the room that I stayed in) was clean, beautiful, and well maintained. Mine was "right sized"; enough room to walk around in. Within it was a very comfortable king size bed, couch, office type desk with chair, a long table (huge HDTV sat on the right end), mini-fridge, microwave, and a small coffee maker with all of the necessary supplies. The sink/lavatory was in a separate area with soap, shampoo, conditioner, handtowels, and washcloths. And there was a closet on the opposite side. The commode/tub/shower was in a separate room with towels and another bar of soap. And it was on the 2nd floor with a balcony that overlooked the courtyard. All rooms have to be entered in from the outside. Thankfully there was a side door that was near mine. Also the Wi-Fi reception was excellent. I had no problems connecting to the Internet. With this hotel be aware of the following. At check-in there was an additional (temporary) $50 charge. It was removed a few days after I left. Also there are street people (and cats) in the vicinity. A minor flaw was with the shower/bathtub. First I had to use a washcloth to turn the water pressure/temperature handle when my hands were wet and soapy. Otherwise it was very difficult to turn. Next there were 3 pump bottles with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Only the conditioner dispensed anything. So I had to use the provided bathing supplies. And you'll want to bring a shower mat if you are prone to slipping. Also the hot water needs to run for about a minute before it reaches the desired temperature; even longer with the sink facet. The major flaw during my stay was that there was no breakfast (notes about this were posted throughout the lobby). I assume it was because of the recent hurricane. So each day I had to venture out into a chaotic environment (traffic lights not working, closed stores & restaurants, etc). If I had been notified about this beforehand then I could have brought plenty of food to sustain me. Because I was not, I think a lower overall rating is justified for this hotel.

Terrible Beds The bed was so hard as to make sleeping virtually impossible. The pillows were fine, but the bed was awful. Some of the outlets were not working, and it was very difficult to navigate the television menu, of which no hard copy was provided so that it could be accessed only onscreen.

Pleasant Surprise Staying at the best Western made the circumstances I was traveling for manageable. On the positive the café was fantastic. I was able to get some work done there for a couple of hours in the morning. It was well set up and convenient to have the breakfast available as well as the coffee. The employees were attentive and considerate. Their interactions seemed very genuine, and I felt welcome. The pool was a nice surprise for a nice evening dip to swim the busy day away. My only disappointment was the laundry room was under maintenance and had I known that sooner I would’ve planned accordingly. On the positive there was a laundromat close by.
