Hampton Inn Spartanburg-North I-85

Clean, comfortable room, but the hotel seems to be getting "tired" My family and I have been semi-regulars at this hotel for several years as we stay there when we visit family in the area. Overall, I find the hotel to be satisfactory though I am considering trying a different place to stay in the future as this Hampton seems to be getting a little "tired." The staff was friendly, our room was clean and comfortable (although it had a "musty" smell when we first arrived that dissipated when we ran the air conditioning), but the whole place is in need of a "refresh." The last time we were there was several months ago, but a vending machine that took our money then still has a sign on it that reads ,"We are not responsible if this machine takes your money." Honestly, that should have been dealt with by now. The morning we checked out, there seemed to be a lot of staff on hand working with housekeeping, but the one man working in the breakfast area could have used some help. He was working diligently trying to keep the buffet area stocked, but it was a bit more than he could handle. The coffee bar did not have real creamer for the coffee (just Coffee Mate), and the milk for cereal was out. And while I understand that hotels these days pretty much all accept pets, I was surprised to hear what sounded like an enormous dog barking in the room next door. It didn't bark after we went to bed, but it was barking late in the evening as well as early in the morning. I guess I expected that a guest with a big dog would be put in a room further away from the other occupied rooms when the hotel isn't full (which it clearly wasn't). We also saw another room that had a bunch of dog hair on the carpet in front of the door where someone had apparently brushed a large dog there. The hotel is, as most Hamptons are, conveniently located near the highway, but the road noise is not bad. This exit only has gas stations and fast food restaurants on it, which may be an issue for some travelers. I'm not writing off this location yet, but I'm planning to go visit family again soon, and I think I will try another hotel this time as it looks like this Hampton has a bit of work to do to be up to its original standards.

Filthy Pay attention to the reviews! I didn’t and I regret it. Our bathroom was nothing short of disgusting. There was toothpaste in the sink and on the counter, hair everywhere and wrappers on the counter. I question if the jacuzzi had ever been cleaned. I refused to go in it. I was completely grossed out but too tired to leave which is what we should have done. As we checked out in the morning I told the front desk staff how dirty it was and she basically shrugged her shoulders. I mentioned it again and she said she would tell the manager. My advice to the manager… retrain or replace your cleaning staff!!! The multiple negative reviews about the lack of cleanliness in your hotel should prompt you to make some major changes

FRAUDULENT CHARGES This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed! I am disappointed in the staff here. I am filing a police report against the manager or staff that fraudulently charged my card for $250 after I left the hotel for a smoke charge and I don’t even smoke! So how could you smell that. And if you did ? Why didn’t you confront me about it! Not one single time did they say anything to me about smoking or anything that night or morning that I stayed there! They will be held accountable for their actions! DO NOT STAY HERE! This is your warning!!

Great pit stop hotel! Wonderful check in and great location We were traveling to Florida with our family and made a quick stop here. It had everything we needed for our short stay. The person checking us in was very kind to my daughter and made the process very quick (important after a 10 hour drive). Our rooms were clean. Pet friendly. A little bit noisy but that was the fault of people slamming doors all night. My only complaint was that it didn’t have an option for 5 people, despite the website saying it slept 5. I’d called ahead (general reservations, not the hotel) so I was aware of that. If was a blessing since we all had proper beds and were able to get a good night’s sleep since nobody was in a pull out. We would definitely stay here again. Easy on/off to the highway and plenty of food options close to the hotel for a bite to eat.

Needs updating Hotel has a strange setup where the lobby is very small and on the end of the building. Very confusing. Hotel is old and needs updating desperately although we slept fine and the room appeared to be as clean as it could be. The elevator floors were very dirty and sticky. Digital check in was not available because this hotel is OLD. Front desk was pleasant.
