An excellent value in Summerville, but breakfast still lacking For years, I've used a single hotel in Mount Pleasant for my annual Charleston vacations. But recently, I've discovered the value in moving to a less expensive area for a portion of my trip, especially once I've done my touring of historic downtown. That's where the Quality Inn of Summerville comes in. It's not really a convenient base to explore downtown, but it isn't too far away, and it's closer to some of my activities in the northern suburbs of Charleston. More importantly, I've found it to be clean, comfortable, and quite a bit more affordable than my main hotel in Mount Pleasant. My room for this visit was 206, with a king bed. Two minor issues with my stay. First, the valve on the faucet to switch it from bath to shower mode was stuck, so maintenance had to come in early on the second day of my stay to fix it. It worked fine after that. Second, the jack on the phone where the handset connects to the phone was damaged, and it wouldn't properly fit. I was able to use the phone to call in regarding the shower faucet issue, but didn't get a dial tone when I tried calling the desk at check-out. other than that, I really didn't have any of the issues that others have brought up recently. The room was clean and comfortable, and everything worked well once the shower faucet was repaired. They still haven't improved breakfast, though - it's still one of the more meager hotel offerings I've seen. Not only no meat items, but oddly enough, no bread/pastry items like bagels either. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The AGM, Robert, checked me in and assisted with getting my bags up the stairs. And a couple of ladies working the evening shift even made a run to a neighboring affiliated hotel to get quarters so I could use the laundry room. All in all, despite the lacking breakfast, and the couple of minor problems I encountered, I enjoyed my stay at the Quality Inn Summerville, especially for what I paid. Don't expect a brand new hotel, and plan for breakfast elsewhere, but otherwise this hotel is perfectly fine for a night or two.

Very Friendly Staff - Very tired Hotel One night stay on our trek North, we picked this property because the reviews were good and the price was low mid-range. We were only going to be there 10 hours. The Front desk was extremely nice and she gave us a "suite" on the second floor when she couldn't get us on the first floor. The A/C worked GREAT! The bed was comfortable enough. Breakfast just OK, but included. The hotel needs a fresh-up. Carpets could be cleaned and furniture refreshed especially in lobby area. It looks and acts like a budget motel but is not as scary as the true budget hotels. Would probably not book again.

So dirty but friendly. Choose I guess. We were desperate. Everything was booked in all near towns. This room was so dirty. Stains on the sofa, something like food stuck on a wall, pee puddled on the bottom of the toilet near the floor. The tub was dirty, I showered with my flips on. (Flip flops) The shower setting was stuck to the shower setting, so we couldn’t run from the lower faucet. It gradually turned to cold several times during the shower and had to be turned back to hot. The sink faucet was so loose it moved when turning on the water. The coffee machine did not work. Did I mention there are no elevators? I lugged 4 suitcases up two flights of stairs. I’m afraid of how dirty the carpets and floors were. I kept my flips on the entire time. It did not smell good. Stains on all the walls. I don’t want to know what they were. I cleaned all the handles and door knobs to things. Bed was just ok for comfort. I DO NOT recommend this hotel. But they were friendly.

Very unsafe 4/19/24 Quality inn Summerville SC My wife and I planned to attend the Charleston Airshow and we made advance reservations at the Quality Inn. We reserved 2 rooms since our daughter and her family were traveling with us. Please review the following sequence of events regarding inoperable smoke alarms in the rooms we were provided (222 & 224): 600pm Check-in 700pm We noticed a small plastic bag covering smoke alarm in room 222(photo available). I tested smoke alarms in both rooms and they were not working. I went to front desk and reported this. Front desk clerk said it was common for guests to cover smoke alarm so they could smoke in the room. I told her that the smoke alarms would not function when I tested them. I asked if hotel maintenance could check this and if there was a hotel manager I could talk to. She said she was not going to notify her manager and the only other option was to refund my money and we could leave. She said all rooms in Summerville were sold out for the weekend. 723pm hotel desk clerk came to room 222 and took photos of the smoke alarm. (photo available) 730pm Since we could not get other rooms in Summerville, I purchased 2 smoke alarms at nearby Walmart so my family would be safe. (receipt available) 800pm Hotel clerk called saying maintenance man will be at room soon. 837pm Randall ? and another maintenance man came to room 222 and tested alarm which was not connected. Randall showed me that the wires had been disconnected. Randall replaced both alarms. 915pm both rooms smoke alarms tested good but I still used the new smoke alarms. I have photos of the old smoke alarms and videos of hotel staff during this situation.

Beware, Bedbugs and filth! Beware, Bedbugs and filth! We stayed at this hotel on January 4th 2024 for one night only. We booked this online as it had good reviews, we live hours away from this area. I cannot see how anyone could rate this hotel anything other than HORRIBLE! Upon arriving in the room, we found it appearing mostly clean, however a bit dingy. The bathroom mirror was loose, neither of the stoppers in either sink function, and the bathroom sink had a clog. That was what was apparent immediately, however the horrors that followed were much worse. We went to bed, my wife and I on one bed, and our special needs (Autism) son on the other bed. The next morning, we checked out then a couple hours later noticed red dots on our son’s neck, upon further investigation, he had them all over his entire body. These were bites from bed bugs. Evidently the mattress has not been changed like they are supposed to and was completely infested. Our son cannot communicate with us to tell us, we had to find this out on our own. We called the hotel, and they were aggressive and extremely rude, using profanity, and not taking any responsibility for the condition of their hotel. We stated that the hotel was ghetto, they responded with “well you stayed here, what does that say about you? This was one of the worst experiences we have ever encountered, and the way they responded to our complaints was extremely unprofessional and completely ridiculous. Do not stay at this hotel, ignore any good reviews, pay a little more for a better more reputable place. Avoid this hotel like the plague, as you may very well catch it there…
