Candlewood Suites Sumter by IHG

Moving On I checked into the Candlewood Suites in Sumter SC on 7/19. The room looked great, and I even got an upgrade for my room type. I had to call to the front desk to get pillows, blankets and sheets for the sleeper sofa as there was none in the room for my granddaughters. When I finally got to go to bed, I pulled back the blankets on the bed in the bedroom and there was blood stains on the sheet. We all slept on the sleeper sofa for the night. I called the front desk first thing Saturday morning and informed the front desk with what I had found the night before. They told me they would send housekeeping up when they came in to take care of the situation. Housekeeping arrived and the lady said she was the Supervisor and cleaned the room herself the day before. She claimed she would have never put sheets on looking like that. I informed her of the trash I found in the trashcan under the kitchen sink as well, and it wasn't my trash. She and another cleaner cleaned the bed right away. Meanwhile, the GM Kaitlynn called me in the room and asked what was the problem. I filled her in, and the first thing out of her mouth was we won't be compensating anything on the room. Mind you, I am a Gold Elite member, and I hadn't even asked for compensation. All I wanted was clean sheets on the bed. But, the tone the GM used with me was unacceptable. I will finish out my stay until Friday at the hotel, due to having little ones with me, but next time I am in Sumter SC, I will be staying at another hotel. Like I said, all I was asking for was clean sheets and the GM made it seem that I was looking for a free room.

Great staff and accommodations!! I really enjoyed my stay here during my trip. The staff was super lovely and welcoming. The room was super clean as well. Definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area. Again, staff was super respectful and courteous during the stay.

Great staff - good accommodations The staff treated me like family. The room was clean and provided all I needed for evening meal preparation. The guest laundry was convenient and available at no additional cost except for soap and dryer sheets. The only negatives were no ice machine and having to park across the street at an overflow parking area.

Horrible stay was fixed by staff. A horrible first night (put in a room that reeked of smoke and the desk clerk told me to “come and get some Fabreeze”)had me ready to leave, especially after the same clerk told me that I’d have to stay in that same room the entire 8 nights. A staff member named Madison and Kaitlynn saved the day. I was moved to a room that had been deep cleaned (it’s a non-smoking hotel but definitely check your room before accepting the key)and the rest of the stay was pleasant. The hotel needs a deep cleaning and to get the indoor pool/hot tub up and running. It’s been down at least 3 months and I get the impression that the owner just doesn’t want to put money into this location. Housekeeping was phenomenal...so friendly and helpful. Madison and Kaitlynn stood out for their resolve to make things right.

Great hotel This hotel is close to several restaurants and 5 minuets away from Shaw Air Force bade. The hotel is very clean and the staff is very accommodating. The rooms are very spacious and have everything one could need. I will definitely come back!
