Stay across from the bay This Hampton must be really popular because for years, I'd check availability, and it would be booked up to a year in advance. We finally got a room booked and came for a three night stay. The room was comfortable, and breakfast was good. The front desk was good to us as well. Our only complaint was the sliding bathroom doors. It's hard to get shut all the way so others can't look in. The shower was a little small, but I am a bigger person, so that's on me. We could also hear the people next door raise and lower their shades really clear. But it is a good place across from the bay.

Tiny house feel. No bathroom privacy. Carpet was filthy. Room was about 4 foot too narrow. So small I had difficulty maneuvering the luggage cart into the room. With three adults in the room I felt the need to say excuse me every time I walked past someone. Bathroom had two sliding doors and when closed someone could look in if they wanted too. Zero 100% privacy. Height of the ceiling I’m sure was to fire code. I’m 6’4” and hit my head on the elevator sign. Maybe they lowered the drop ceiling to save on wallpaper. $449 a night not worth it at all. House keeping very friendly. All young men from Turkey. Nice to see they’re trying to earn money for their family. Breakfast wasn’t anything to write home about.

Terrible Management, No Consideration For Loyal Hilton Customers I inadvertently booked a room at this location on the evening of June 10, 2024. I later realized that same night I booked the wrong location and called the next morning- less than 12 hours later- and attempted to cancel the booking. I was told the booking was non-refundable, but a nice lady named Sue said if Expedia would call her, she would tell them there was no objection to my cancelling. That was at 8:30 am or earlier on June 11,2024. Expedia then said they would call the property and have a supervisor follow up. Since I didn’t hear back from Expedia, I just called their help line again. This time the Expedia rep got the hotel on the line and explained the situation and also explained Sue’s saying the reservation can be cancelled without penalty. Nevertheless, when the Expedia rep spoke to the person NOT named Sue, he said it wasn’t his problem that I made a mistake in the booking and insisted on charging the fee. I have been a Hilton Diamond member for years, and have never received this type of service in any other location. When the price of travel is already expensive, customer service doesn’t cost a dime. Since this Hampton Inn apparently can’t afford even that for its customers, I would advise everyone to avoid it.

I Would Have Been Happier if There Had Been a Bathtub We were at this Hampton for 4 nights while visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. When I first entered the room, I was not pleased at its size. It seemed much smaller than I am used to for a king bed room. Then I noticed there was only a shower. I complained at the desk and they said there were no open rooms with a tub. I hadn't even known that I should check in advance for that. Aside from that, the room was clean, bed was good, and it had been updated not too long ago. The refrigerator was odd. You had to press a button and you could get "fast cooling" for 2 hours and then it would warm up again. Not for perishable foods for very long. Breakfast was the typical Hampton - The attendant lady was very nice. When I couldn't eat the eggs because of meat in them, she offered to make me some meat free ones. The rooms are cleaned every other day. Each of the 4 nights we were there, we were charged a different price. The average price was $250 per night. I still can't get used to these prices these days. The Hotel is across a busy street from the East Arm of the Grand Traverse Bay and there is a narrow park running along the bay. Room 227

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I give this Hampton Inn review a POOR rating because of "Management " poor customer service. Our check in time was 3 pm. We arrived 4 pm expecting to check in, but was told our room was not ready yet. I asked for another room and was told there would be an up charge. They refused to honor our reservation price, so I didn't have a choice but to accept the upgraded price. Complaining to management was a waste of time. I always try and stay at a Hampton, but never again at this location.
