The Ocean Key Virginia Beach Resort

Exchange Week Bathtub stopped up, had to call maintenance to fix. Bathroom sink did not have a stopper. Coffee Machine was completely unusable; had dirt, grime, etc. inside the water reservoir. Floors were dirty particularly along the baseboards. Hallway floors were visibly dark and dirty. Elevators often had puddles of water which made for potential slipping hazards.

Location does not outweigh the cons While this location is close to the beach, it does not outweigh the cons of this hotel. The parking garage is tight, spaces are small. Arrived after check-in time to find our room was not ready. We were provided a visitor card to use the pool bathroom facility, which were absolutely disgusting. The doors did not shut and lock, toilet paper was littered all over the floor and there were no paper towels. 3 hours after the designated check-in time we were notified our room was ready. There are 2 elevators, so be prepared to wait. The floor in the room was not clean (I swept a full pan of sand before we even brought our luggage into the room), the linens on the bed were soiled with stains and hair. The mattress pad had visible blood and urine stains- new linens were requested. The beds were re-made but the same stained mattress pad remained on the bed. Staff were vacuuming in the hallway after 11pm. The hotel tried telling us we were checking out a day earlier than the reservation. Despite having a confirmation email of my stay, the staff stated they couldn’t use the email confirmation as proof stating what was in their system goes- this required corporate resolution. Overall- terrible experience, we certainly won’t be back.

Needs a lot of work The floors were dirty,the pool was ice cold and there were ants in my room.told the staff about the ants and the pool but nothing was done about it.

This is what "we don'tcare looks like." As a owner long time of three weeks at the Ocean Key we were appalled by the horrible condition. Not sure where my maintenance fees are going but certainly not towards basic upkeep and cleaning. Delayed check in process. As an owner you are supposed to get priority check in. I overheard the assistant manager tell her staff "I don't care if people are owners here." Apparently the staff listened and neither do they. There is a new management team and they are not getting it done. We never experienced this when Bill Mitchell was in charge. The list if broken stuff is too long to post all, but here are a few. Broken table on deck, chain lock on door laying on the floor, hole punched in door, shower faucet not attached, all laminate peeling from cabinets, shelving missing parts and falling down, mold ask over bathroom, towe rod not attached, ice bucket cracked in half, overall dirty. I called the front desk twice asking for a manager to call but to no surprise I never got a call. Back to the "I don't care about owners" philosophy. Stay elsewhere until this place gets a MAJOR overhaul and attitude towards guests. We will be selling out units sand looking elsewhere Truly disappointing
