Excellent Hotel with Great Breakfast I always mention the breakfast because Hampton Inns have figured out that a good breakfast starts a good day. The rooms are clean and quiet with a comfortable bed. The electrical outlets work and there are sufficient USB ports for all my little devices.

Good value for money Quiet hotel adjacent to several businesses of interest (Panera, Fridays, Target, AMC theater). Rooms have been renovated. Bathroom still has half tub, but new fixtures. Room had a fridge. Bathroom had both packaged toiletries and bulk bottle shampoo/ shower gel. The pool was NOT available (some sort of chemical issue). Several contractors working in the hotel during the day, so upgrades continue. Hit Breakfast included bacon, potatoes, and waffle maker. Only drawbacks, weak water pressure and the AC unit was older model with controls on unit (somewhat loud)

Almost perfect Our room's fan was rumbling all night and we couldn't turn it off. Otherwise, our stay was very nice. Management did a nice job hiding and working around some renovations. Everything was very nice. If we were to stay another night, I would be tempted to see if another room had a quieter fan.

Beware smokers who follow the rules! My partner and I smoke but never indoors, we kept to the outdoor smoking area and then would come inside after and laid on the bed, we never sat on the couch or chair. After we left we were charged $250 because they claimed we smoked in the room. I immediately called the number I was given and disputed this and heard nothing back from the hotel. When I called back 5 days later I was told that the manager confirmed there was an odor and they couldn’t rent the room out. The ONLY place there could be an odor was on the bedding because as I said we are smokers and laid in the bed after coming inside from smoking. So essentially we paid $250 for the housekeeper to change the bedding. Our AC unit did not work, it’d turn off randomly and none of the buttons worked, which I reported to the front desk as soon as we arrived. If someone had smoked in that room the whole floor would have reeked. The rules don’t say anywhere that smokers can’t stay at the hotel or that they will be charged more for staying. It says to not smoke in the room which we did not do and there’s video proving we went out of our way not to do, but we were charged for it anyway. Honestly I would have probably recommended this hotel before this but the lack of response from the management on the issue and this charge is just too much. We have never had this issue when traveling before. My partner and I saved to take a anniversary trip and overall had a great time in Grand Rapids, but this definitely has put a bad taste in our mouth for what was supposed to be a very special weekend.

Remodel Me Please Hotel is in desperate need of a remodel. Was only in for 1 night. Stayed here as rooms downtown were so expensive. Room was clean, but very dated. Bathroom looked like they might of added new tile on floor , and new tile in shower with a new vanity within 5 years, but should of did the entire room. Breakfast was fine. They had self service waffles, bagels, cereal, omlettes and sausage. Check in was easy lady at front desk pleasant. This was the cheaper hotel out of the other 2 that are back in this area, probably because it's the oldest. Was a little expensive for quality.
