Nice place..great value. I have no idea why the Inn at Arsenal gets poor reviews. Our room looked exactly like the one in the picture - no carpet, two nice queen beds, updated bath, and everything was clean. It is a perfect stop if you are going to be using public trans in the Boston area. A bus into boston is on the corner and the bus to Harvard Square is two blocks away. The town of Waterton is lovely, safe, and very walkable. The Inn at Arsenal was quiet, safe, and clean. I went in knowing how reasonably priced it was and having read reviews and I was very pleasantly surprised. If you want to get super nit picky - there was no microwave in the room...there is one in the lobby and the windows in the room are a little thin so you do hear road noise. For what I paid compared to any place else, these are minor. Overall, we had a lovely stay. By the way it was just me and my teenager daughter and we felt safe the entire time.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING … DONT EVER BOOK DO NOT BOOK AT ALL … FLYING ANT INFESTATION IN A ROOM AND RAW SEWAGE POURING OUT OF A TUB IN ADDITION TO UNKEPT ROOMS AND A NASTY RECEPTION WORKER. It was absolutely filthy and disgusting. We booked 6-rooms because we were a large group that was flying back home, and our flight got cancelled. We checked in on 6/27/23 and checked out on 6/28/23. So, we needed a hotel for just a few hours to sleep because we then had to come back the next morning for our flight. It was DEPLORABLE. I booked the hotel over the phone, and I understood from the man I spoke to that the hotel offered airport transfers. So, when we were ready to leave for the hotel, I called to request the transfers. The woman who answered told me they don’t offer them. I told her I was told there was. She immediately started yelling at me to google their hotel to see if they had transfers. I told her I thought they were available, and I calmly explained it’s fine if you don’t. I thought they were. She then told me again to Google. I said I am not googling anything, I must’ve been mistaken. She continued to yell … although I never raised my voice once … that she is busy and doesn’t have time to answer my question. She ACTUALLY told me this phone call was a waste of her time and hung up on me. Then, the 24 of us took cabs to the hotel. When we got there, a young woman was there. Her voice was completely different than who I spoke to, so I knew it was her. I told her about the phone call and being told I was a waste of time and being hung up on, and she told me her colleague is always in a bad mood. But, this woman was so pleasant. She let us order pizza and eat in the lobby. Once we all got to the rooms, the hotel room problems began. One room looked like it was used and not cleaned up. Another room had broken furniture with dangling dresser knobs and missing pieces (which we didn’t complain about because we weren’t using drawers). These issues were tolerable for the most part … BUT … One room was INFESTED with flying ants (see photos). Another room started to have gurgling noises coming out of the tub during the night. All of sudden, RAW SEWAGE (see photos) started to pour out of the tub faucet. We got there at 9:40 pm, and we all choose to check out at 5 am and go back to the airport to wait … when originally we were planning on seeing how late of a checkout we could get. I am STILL waiting for refunds. The hotel worker during the night/early morning apologized profusely about the ants and the sewage. He seemed genuinely concerned and embarrassed. He had me write it down in a notebook for his boss who wouldn’t be in until noon. As of right now, over 36-hours has passed, no one has contacted me back about a refund. We paid $718 for 6-rooms, and I asked for a minimum of 3-rooms refunded. The place is a weird layout too in a seedy area. When I was walking through the halls, there were rooms that has a 2 to 3 inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor … doesn’t make it look safe when the gap is that wide. These weren’t our rooms, though. I BEG YOU … DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. I UNDERSTAND WHY IT WAS THE ONLY HOTEL IN THE BOSTON AREA THAT HAD 6-ROOMS AVAILABLE WHEN THOUSANDS OF TRAVELERS HAD THEIR FLIGHT CANCELLED.

Unprofessional service and lack of care Unfortunately, this wasn’t the best experience. When I arrived around 7, the power was out in the entire building and they couldn’t provide us a room on the second floor as was reserved. They instead gave me a basement room. I was told to come back in the morning once the power was back on to get the original room. The following morning they said it was not possible as they had rented it out. They said we had to remain in the basement room that included loud sounds of people walking above. Later on, they came to take our towels but never replaced them so we were provided two floor mats and not towels. Then to top it off, there was a leak above the toilet that would drip on you as you sat to use it in addition to the lack of a towel rack. While I’m a male, I couldn’t imagine how a woman might feel for her safety being placed in a dark and dimly lit basement. I’d say you get what you pay for, but the lack of customer service and communication was unacceptable.

Don’t stay here I really wanted to like this place. The room was decent. Everything was clean and comfortable. There were a couple things I didn’t like that I tried to overlook: 1. the rooms are not sound proof at all. There is a one inch gap at the bottom of the door so you can hear anything and everything happening in the hallway. 2. The shower was not hot 3. The lack of deadbolt made me a little nervous at first and ultimately became the reason I am writing this review. The last straw for me was a housekeeper entering our room while we were sleeping one morning. There was no additional lock and no way to indicate not to disturb. So a knock, at the very least, should be a given. This was very disturbing to me that someone could just walk in and they didn’t care whether we were there or not.
