Unauthorized credit card charges My husband stayed at Valley West Inn for a few weeks while working in Des Moines. There was no cleaning service, not even a trash can in the room. After he checked out we had over $300 in charges to Amazon charges to the card he used to pay for the hotel. That credit card was only used for travel. Never for shopping. He asked around to several co workers who stayed in the same hotel and many of them had the same thing happen to them. Not a coincidence.

NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE BUT MIGHT SAY THEY ARE! They lied to us one night in August 2019 & claimed that going to a 3rd floor room required NO STAIRS! WRONG! Elevator only goes up half-way between floors 2 & 3, and then there are about 8 or 9 stairs still to go. Shame on them - lying to a handicapped person with bad arthritis & a Handicap Parking sticker, who also injured a knee badly the day before & could barely walk. Husband also said room looked BAD & we had noticed outside locked door looked unsecure & parking lot was barely lit. Painfully limped back to lobby to ask for a refund since I could NOT access the room. No one at Front Desk. After about 10 minutes of waiting (& other people trying to get a room also lining up in the lobby), we noticed a phone # posted to call Desk Clerk. More waiting, but finally she arrived. Said she had no power to refund money & called Manager to come over - another 15 minutes wasted. Manager seemed high on something & shook her finger in our faces even though we were very calm & nice, so we departed. Verbal & written requests to Owners to refund our money have gone unanswered, as of 9/21/2019. NEVER STAY HERE is our advice.

OMG - ROACHES GALORE!!!! If I could give a zero, I definitely would as this place deserves it. We moved from Florida to Iowa and knowing we were not closed on a house, we set up a place to stay in advance. After a long day of unloading trucks, my husband stopped by and made sure we were set up. He paid over $900.00 for us to stay with our pets and believed the room would look at nice as in the picture and the front lobby. We arrived with our pets and belongings and went to the back of the building to enter our room. The security door was standing wide open and had no handle at all. The hallway smelled of urine and puke and when we opened our room door we were met by a family of cockroaches on the floor, the walls and crawling across the bed. I broke down and cried as I thought I was leaving those critters in Florida. My husband went straight to the front desk to say we are not staying here due to all that I listed above. The front desk lady apologized and stated she could do nothing about refunding our money, that the manager would have to do that on Monday. Well, that was on June 7th and the money was to be put back on my husbands account on June 9th. Well, today is July16 and after numerous phone calls, even an email stating $700 was put back on the card - which is not the full amount - but the $700 never showed up on the card. OMG do not eat in their restaurant that is attached to Valley West. If their are roaches in the back of the building - they are all over the building. Stay at your own RISK!

Worst hotel ever Had a flood in room manager didn't even come down for a week to take pictures lost all personal belongings after my stuff sit in water a few days then offer to clean stuff just moved us to. Another room doesn't even offer to give us free room for a week or 2 were on extended stay didn't compensate anything having to go out to buy all new things don't won't things sit in plumbing water for days then try to clean up didn't offer to clean up for a few days nasty dirty people said their is nothing wrong I trashed it all bad hotel service & management nasty dirty hotel would not trust to clean my stuff bad service!!

Worst place ever This is the nastiest place I have ever stayed....the employees are rude and not helpful. They will not refund your deposit of 200 per room, and it has been 3 weeks since I stayed there...while staying there the cops had to come evict couples with small children staying there like it was a residential neighborhood, people dealing drugs in parking lot, and prostitutes working out of the room...they would not supply towels or toilet paper, the building I stayed in had caught fire and was not repaired, I will never stay there again!!!
