Concerns fell on deaf ears On arrival the hotel seemed pleasant but unlike the smell lingering inside it. Also I had emailed the hotel saying I was to use cash for my stay and the reply was YES. But on arrival they had said it’s now card but no communication or notices at reception to confirm this. The response was very negative from the staff so I felt annoyed before we got even got into our rooms. At dinner service was very slow each night something we had experienced before. The room was nice but the music was far too loud!. Two nights running up to 1130-1230 each occasion. I did visit the reception whilst the music was playing but it fell on deaf ears !. With the room being excessively hot due to a poor performing air conditioning system!. We returned to the reception to mention the air conditioning as with the music blasting we couldn’t let the air in. They replied there wasn’t enough fans so that was that !….even though Screwfix had some in stock and they could have fetched some ?. The only place with cool air was the function room as that had a fire extinguisher propping the exit doors open!. I hope the fire officer doesn’t have a party there it’s a fifty thousand pound fine for holding a door open with an extinguisher. The only positive were the staff in the dining room special mention “good old Ginge”.

Price Check & Room Selective Hotel Just returned from a trip to Weybridge staying at the OATLANDS PARK HOTEL, OATLANDS were we stayed one night Mon 30th June - Tues 1st July. A real shame as the surrounds, location and previous reviews looked great. Unfortunately it's one of those hotels that sorts and checks guest and then allocates rooms based on what they paid for their booking. I booked an overnight for a business meeting using laterooms which redirected to booking.com with an offer for £129 double superior with breakfast included. And before booking with booking.com and after comparing prices on the Oatlands website it was about £20 cheaper with laterooms/booking than the booking direct with Oatlands. As it was the hottest day of the year plus 30 degrees and we had driven nearly 4 hours and it was almost 8pm when we checked in we really just wanted to get to the room, shower and get some food. On checking in the man on the desk looked surprised by the booking information not sure what he was checking but took a few minutes looking baffled at the screen. The queried where we had booked the room. He said his booking system was coming up different information to the confirmed booking details and that our 'room" was showing as 'Room Only' within no breakfast included. Our confirmed booked had breakfast included. As i had just driven 3.45 hours to get there I was keen to just get to the room so politely said would you like to take a screenshot of the booking and check with the manager and let us know if there is an issue later. I said to be honest were not bothered about the breakfast just wanted to get to the room. He then said we could have walk in breakfast £25 each we declined and he said he would let us know if they could honor the breakfast included confirmed booking we had. He then went back to the screen and continued looking puzzled. After two more minutes he said you room is ground floor 1012. We said thanks and then went to the room. It was at this point when we entered the room we realised why he took so long with the room allocation, he had allocated a very old accessible room nothing like the pictures of the superior room pictures on their website and or on the late bookings website picture. I suspect he thought the rate we had secured was not correct for the superior room type and as we had not booking directly our booking warranted the cheapest room he could find. Room 1012 had wardrobes with no doors on, no facilities like hairdryer and a very small low sink in the bathroom next to the toilet to wash hands and no vanity sinks to brush teeth or sinks like you would find in a standard bathroom in a hotel room. The shower room was massive for wheelchair access and gravity shower. After the near 4 hour drive and it being almost 8:30pm I needed to shower, find something to eat and get ready for the business meeting the next day. I did mention at reception we needed a hairdryer and the lady i suspect was the manager on the desk said one would be sent to the room but it never arrived. The ray of light, breakfast went fine ended up being honored as part of the original booking. Only advice I can give is be careful where you book, as the hotel is room/rate selective, on which rooms they allocate based on what you paid. If you are given 1012 don't accept it, I said to my partner what if a disabled person checks in and need the room? Don't take the walk in breakfast charge as it only £16 when booked in advance and they want to charge £25 for walk in. On another day if it was not so hot, near 4 hour drive and not so late. I would have gone back to reception and highlighted that we paid for a superior room and was not the room we booked and paid for. Shame really as it looked like a great hotel. Cheers JK
