Royal Dump This hotel may have been nice in 1975 but it’s 2024. After a long drive to Winnipeg, we arrived around 10pm with our two kids and to call what was happening outside and in the lobby sketchy would be an understatement. People wandering in and out of the lobby who clearly were not guests for reasons unclear. The trip up to the room was no better. Both elevators are damaged inside with burn marks or torn wallpaper and adhesive. The hallways are dank, dirty and the carpet may last have been cleaned in the 70s. The room is what really sealed it for me. What a run down, dumpy experience. Clearly it had been smoked in. Mold in the bathroom, they have removed the carpet for obvious reasons. The beds and furniture was all worn, marked and sticky looking. The mattresses may be original or salvaged from a dumpster somewhere for how bad they were. Three of the saddest pillows I have ever seen on each bed (why not four?) We may as well have slept on our coats. The towels in the rooms and pool are basically see through. I travel for work and sports and have stayed in alot of budget friendly hotels and this one was the worst I have ever experienced and was $160 a night!. The worst part truly was not feeling safe. The only plus is the location to Polo Park but honestly spend the money on gas and stay 5 mins away somewhere nicer. In addition to the seedy vibe, the hotel is located on a triangle of land beside the freeway and an off ramp so heads up leaving the parking lot for cars coming off at 90km. It’s also under a major flight path for the nearby airport so that really adds to the fun trying to sleep at night. Literally anywhere would be a better option than the Viscount. Don’t even bother with the lounge, while the drinks might be priced well, our group had someone uninvited join our table, lift her shirt and grab herself and when everyone left, take every drink left behind, combine them in her glass and drink the leftovers. Yuck.

Terrible hotel rude manager and desk staff Terrible hotel. Do not stay! The only decent things about this hotel are the kind and hardworking maids and waiter at the restaurant. The day front desk lady was terrible and rude. A tyrant trying to serve over her minimal fiefdom. The hotel stinks and is outdated. The rooms are small and there was black mold growing in the showers. It is very noisy with rough clientele using the lobby bar, a fire station across the street and constant air traffic overhead. The manager had the audacity to swear and demean our hockey team manager and had absolutely no ounce of customer service acumen. He should be fired!!! NEVER STAY HERE!!!

Rude and terrible staff, outdated and smelly rooms We are currently staying at this hotel with a hockey club for a tournament. Over the coarse of 3 weeks I have attempted to get ahold of the manager to book a conference room several times via email & phone with no responses. Several of the team members checking in have came and complained to me (as the manager) how rude, ignorant and arrogant the staff were at check in. If there was another option in the city at current all 5 teams would be leaving. We have spent $10,000s of thousands of dollars here, as chosen by the tournament and been treated like complete crap. The place is run down and rather gross and smells like smoke. If it were up to our teams we wouldn’t be staying here. Do not recommend!

I’ve never been so disappointed in a room! No phone, no alarm clock & overly starched, ripped towels! Oh my god_ it was my sisters birthday thought I would take her to a nice sports bar after enjoying dinner at Rae & Jerry's; which by the way was excellent. However, to my embarrassment; after raving about how the staff and service was so great in the lounge I was quite upset when we were snubbed right from the get-go by some angry bartender who seemed to hate his job. Our group not only experienced this once but several times & to top it all off the hotel manager didn't seem to care. I usually stay & visit this lounge but never again! What an upset & disappointment.

A shabby run down and threatening hotel When we arrived at check in after having booked a room for two weeks in advance, our usual credit cards didn’t work. The receptionist’s response was that we should find another hotel! We found another card that worked and went to our room. It turns out that the hotel had not purchased a sufficiently modern machine to take chip and pin cards. The room was large but very basic for the price. The view outside was of the roof of the swimming pool, with workmen wandering past. We kept the curtains drawn in the day time as a result! The swimming pool was being refurbished, the jacuzzi was closed off, and the gym was shabby. The bar was adequate the first night with a very friendly and helpful waitress. By the third night the bar was packed full with a younger and very threatening crowd. We could tell that even the bar staff were worried. There seemed to be no security at all, with people able to wonder the corridors at will. This place is not worth four stars, and is one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. It is certainly not worth what we were charged
