A Great Halfway Stay This was a great hotel. The management was on top of every need we had! They checked my Hilton Honors and gave me my points. The beds were soft and pillows were fluffy. It’s an older Hampton so I hope they will invest in a remodel very soon. Food was excellent as well!

total breakdown of service This was one of the worst experiences that we have had. I am a Hilton Honors member but they never picked up on it at check in. The key system was not working so we had to wait some time to be escorted up to our room so that a master key could be used and then our key cloned from that. The staff seemed very frustrated and we were tired so we went with it. When we got into the room, the free internet was not working. I was travelling back to New England and wanted to map out a strategy but could not. The front desk clerk did come up and it was working on her phone but it would not allow me to connect nor could my wife on two different windows machines. This was made more difficult as I had to use my cell phone after locating the hotel phone number on my cell phone as the room phone was not working either. I tried to get things working as my wife decided to retire. I went over to the light above the sink to lessen the light for my wife as I tried to work through the problem but that light did not work as well. When we were checking out, the same clerk that tried to assist me was at the desk. She was alerted to the room issues and then I was informed that the room cost of 176 (was told it was the total cost when we checked in) went to 205 upon checkout. I asked why it was so high from the quote and asked if it was higher due to numerous issues with the room. She replied that she could give us a discount but never did. Then I offered to pay with cash (legal tender in all debts public and private) but they could not take it as the system would not allow cash. In a facility with so many technical issues, the last thing that I wanted was for them to have my card on file but I had to pay...well I will be looking to Marriot as Hilton has hosed us for the last time

Be aware Outdated and needs maintenance done for sure. We have never stayed at a Hampton that was so outdated. The room was dusty and missing furniture. It was strange that someone took you to your room from the office. What was even crazier was when we checked out the following day, we were put in the wrong room . Our room key was for 307 but should have been in 310. The woman at the desk said we were the third people that had this happen too since checking in . Unfortunately those people were in their room when someone else entered their room. Our bathroom door didn’t open all the way.The linens were clean and plenty of towels. I never write a review but felt compelled to share our opinion. We won’t be stopping here again

This is a subpar Hampton Like just about all hotels in Wytheville, this is extremely tired. I'm not sure why more is not invested into these hotels because they are always busy. I travel between Georgia and Northern Ohio often and it's such a convenient stopping point. When I stayed here the first time about 2 months ago, I was excited that I had finally found one that was up a slightly higher standard. So I was happy to return now. Very different experience. My room was not very clean. There was only one working and useful lamp. The others were literally as dim as night lights and one did not work at all. The sheets did not appear very clean and I ended up sleeping in my clothes. Fitted sheet was on wrong side out with the seams up.I had to put three pillows on top of one another to get the size of a normal pillow. And the base that the mattress sets on made a horrible creaking noise every time you moved in the bed. I specifically selected a room in the app that was near a back door and grass because I had my dog with me. It was "temporarily" broken when I was here 2 months ago. It's still not working and although you can exit you cannot enter through any of the rear doors. This is a safety concern for me as a solo female traveling with a dog that has to be walked in the evening. My bathroom was very run down. The mirror had not been cleaned and at least two or three guests and was sprayed with dried soap and water. Maintenance, cleaning, and clearly, management, are lacking at this location. I will not be returning to the Hampton Wytheville.

Hotel is apparently due to be renovated. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable but otherwise the rooms and bathroom were tired! Staff was pleasant in particular the lady who checked us out and the breakfast staff. Breakfast was typical of a Hampton Inn. I would not return until after the Reno.
