  • My First Music Video
    A. Michael Baldwin's film career began as a teenager when he had starring roles in films such as Kenny & Company and Phantasm. Now an adult, he's stepped behind the camera at My First Music Video, where he yields the spotlight to the next generation of young talent. Each session begins in the recording studio, where singers lay down vocals on a track of their choice while Michael's team captures candid behind-the-scenes footage. Once the song is ready to go, video stars film a performance inside My First Music Video's studio, which is furnished with a choice of backdrops. Next, the singer and Michael's crew film scenes at up to four indoor or outdoor locations. Approximately 10 days after the four-hour shoot, Michael sends a final cut of the high-definition clip, rather than projecting the video into the night sky to summon all talent agents.

  • Moviehouse & Eatery

Outfitted with lush recliners and a friendly waitstaff, the venue's dine-in theaters invite guests to fill up on from-scratch dishes while watching the latest blockbusters. A full-service bar located in the lobby features local brews on tap, house wines, and signature cocktails, all of which can be delivered to viewers' seats. • Violet Crown Cinema
Violet Crown Cinema: A User’s Guide Independent and International Films | Documentaries | Stadium Theater Seating | Cocktail Bar | Small Plates Sample Menu Food: Chicago-style wagyu beef hot dog Drink: Cecil B. Fermented beer cocktail with grapefruit bitters Where to Sit: All seats for all shows are reserved, so buy tickets ahead of time for best pick. Most seats include extra conveniences, such as swivel tables for the front row. Buying online betters the odds of getting better seats, though it includes a small surcharge. When to Go: Like going to any theater, it depends on how big a crowd you want see the movie with, and how much you prefer to spend. Weekends and evenings are usually the busiest (and priciest) times to catch a flick. While You’re Waiting Grab a cocktail, glass of wine, or local draft beer at the Violet Crown Bar & Cafe, and then hang out in the upper or lower lounge. Peruse a food menu that includes vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. If you plan to eat before a movie, then it’s recommended to arrive 45 minutes before show time. Inside Tips Not wanting to sit down for a meal? Head to the snack bar, where items such as cake balls and fresh vegetables commingle with popcorn and other traditional movie fare. For patrons who park in the attached garage, the theater validates parking for up to four hours. While You’re in the Neighborhood Before: Hit up Lambert’s Downtown Barbecue (401 West 2nd Street), just to make sure you don’t spend the whole movie thinking about the heavenly aroma. After: Just a block away, the Colorado River is an ideal setting for meditating on any thoughts stirred up by a good movie.

  • Alamo Drafthouse Cinema: Slaughter Lane
Alamo Drafthouse: A User’s Guide Arthouse Films | Mainstream Cinema | Craft Beer | Gourmet Movie Food | Quote-Along Events | No Talking Policy Sample Menu Snack: Mini bánh mì hot dogs slathered in sriracha, carrot, cilantro, and cucumber Entree: the Royale with Cheese, a Jules Winnfield–worthy burger with smoked bacon and aioli Beverage: Silence of Lambs signature wines—the Cannibal chianti and the Suit Yourself pinot grigio Where to Sit: Whether you like to sit in back to soak it all in or take the front row and try out your backward binoculars, you can choose your reserved seats when checking out online. While You’re Waiting: Prepare to laugh, cry, scream, or all three (depending on your movie) over a craft beer or glass of wine at the onsite bar. Inside Tips Never, ever, ever, ever talk during a movie. Most of the time. The strict no-talking policy is lifted at special Quote-Along Events where they screen the classics fans know by heart. Check the schedule for films labeled Drafthouse Films—these are the movies released by the cinema’s film distribution arm, which debuted in 2010 with the British black comedy Four Lions.
