  • Entertainment Cruises (Spirit of)
When you gaze out into Boston Harbor these days, you might notice a new jewel on the water. It's no giant diamond, though; it's just the Spirit of Boston fresh off its recent $2.5 million renovation. The stately sightseeing ship ferries passengers along Boston's shores aboard three indoor decks that hold up to 600 people. However, in addition to taking passengers past city landmarks such as the USS Constitution and the Seaport District, the ship contains some picturesque sites of its own; amenities include sleek full-service bars, dance floors with live DJs, and even a rooftop deck. Thanks to panoramic windows, guests can retire to the ship's lounge while still taking in the postcard-worthy views. There are even onboard activities, including communal games such as tabletop shuffleboard, giant Jenga, and bag toss.

  • Nema Williams & Ed Blaze Live
THEARC Theater was created out of necessity. The first theater in Ward 8 in Washington, DC, it was founded to provide residents living east of the Anacostia River with expanded cultural opportunities and hide-and-seek spots. Constructed by local nonprofit Building Bridges Across the River, the theater aims to improve the lives of children and adults in southeast Washington through educational, health, and social-service programs such as free theater workshops and youth internships in technical theater management. Noting the tower of glass windows that crowns the entrance, the Washington Post called it "a veritable lighthouse of learning—a $27 million, 110,000-square-foot campus set on 16 beautiful green acres."
