  • Native Rentals
Owner and operator Shawn can trace his family's roots in the local waterways back seven generations. His deep love of the water led him to launch Native Rentals, which conducts eco-friendly paddle tours, and create the Surfer Bus, a renovated school bus that brims with kayaks, surfboards, and any equipment needed for tours on the go. His eco-tours explore the Robinson Preserve, Neal Preserve, and the Anna Maria Sound aboard single or tandem kayaks, standup paddleboards, and bikes, all of which let guests test their muscles without the exorbitant fees of going through Poseidon's booking agent. Enjoy safe and protected paddling while you wrap around tunnels, tidal lakes, and islands. International travel writer and television personality, Richard Bangs, listed Surfer Bus as Bradenton's top family attraction due to the spectacular views of nature and wildlife it offers paddlers navigating the Robinson Nature Preserve.

  • Windsong Charters
"We've got more canoes, kayaks and SUPs than fingers and toes to count them," Captain Wendy explains. "Also, two sailboats, eleven pontoons??all rentable. The funny thing is, this business came from a big accident." She's referring to the company?s inception in 2002, when a devastating hurricane led a friend to sign his company?s single sailboat over to Wendy and her husband, Bruce. "We were in marketing??then, suddenly, we were in boating." More than 12 years later, Windsong Charters & Boat Rentals has flourished under the duo?s stewardship. The company now performs 200 weddings each year and equips a wide range of patrons to revel in the breathless joy of cutting through playful zephyrs and out across the water. Wendy and Bruce encourage fishing and bringing pets on boating voyages, and the two share stories to delight guests or calm champagne bottles propped next to brand-new yachts. As propellers hum to life and paddles make a gentle kissing sound against the surf, visitors scan the horizon for the variety of wildlife that slips along just below the surf's surface or comes wheeling out of tufts of cumulonimbus. "I wish the animals would give us their schedules,? Wendy says, ?but, on a given day, you could see manatees, dolphins, stingrays, and lots of birds."

  • Adventure Water Sports Fort Myers
The gentle clap of paddles against the water and the tenor thrumming of jet-ski motors drift from Adventure Water Sports. On waverunners, diminutive sailboats, and kayaks, patrons spread out across the surf and around Estero Island, their eyes peeled for dolphins and other fauna at all times. The shoreline falls back in quiet bays and estuaries, where little fish dart among tangled knots of mangrove roots. Instructors certified by the United States Coast Guard demonstrate the operation of vessels, lead tours, and knock down sand castles lacking proper fire exits.

  • Myakka Outpost
Myakka Wildlife Tours offers relaxing, approximately one-hour rides on a smoothly gliding air-powered boat throughout Myakka River State Park?s 58 square miles. The boat?s flat bottom allows it to approach grassy, shallow areas inaccessible to traditional vessels, giving passengers close-up photo ops of saw-toothed alligators, lanky sandhill cranes, and other native critters inhabiting Upper Myakka Lake?s shores. After disembarking, intrepid adventurers can continue their explorations on foot through the park's 39 miles of hiking trails or take to its elevated canopy walkway for a Tikbalang?s-eye view of prairies, wetlands, and pinelands.
