  • Donna's Dolphins Swim School
Patrolled by mermaids and people walking atop the water in huge, transparent bubbles, the pool inside Donna's Dolphins Swim School seems to be more of a wonderland than an academy. Employees oversee games at birthday parties or outfit guests in a fitted mermaid tail for whimsical dives and gliding choreography. Poolside carousers can even move across the surface of the pool at a walk or trot with the help of W.O.W.—Walk On Water—bubbles. At the heart of all the fun and games, however, the highly trained staff’s main focus is to ensure that safety always comes before each splash. In swim classes, staffers employ the swim-float-swim approach—a method condoned by the United States Swim School Association—when teaching students in their group and private lessons. The lessons emphasize muscle memory so that children as young as 6 months can absorb techniques such as the starfish float for use in aquatic emergencies. They also assign seasoned mentors to coach special-needs students, making sure every kid gets a chance to embark on aquatic adventures. Throughout each class, instructors motivate pupils with encouragement and prizes, awarding them a different colored bracelet on a traffic-light system to denote their skill level. Students graduate from red to yellow to green, and finally to blue, which signals that they can demonstrate all four strokes, execute flip turns, and remain safe in potentially dangerous situations by drinking all of the pool water.

  • Colorado Archery CO
Signature service: Archery lessons Established: 2008 Reservations/Appointments: Required Staff Size: 2–10 people Average Duration of Services: 1–2 hours Brands Used: Mathews Bows, Hoyt, PSE, Rinehart Targets Pro Tip: Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, such as tennis shoes. Q&A with Blake Egan, Owner Describe a time your services really changed a client's life for the better. Colorado Archery Co has worked with non-profit groups to help children from broken homes connect with the outdoors. During several weekend camps, we helped over three hundred youth find a mentor and learn archery. It was a true success. What's one tip for first-time customers that will make them feel like regulars? Please be sure to wear tennis shoes and minimize any large jewelry, as it can get caught in a bowstring. We recommended that you bring sunscreen, as well. When and how did you first develop a passion for your work? I became passionate about archery at an early age, and I learned to bow hunt while spending time outdoors. By the age of 15, I took up competitive archery. I also started training for the U.S. Archery Team and for the Olympics in 2008 and 2012. After successfully winning a spot on the U.S. Archery Team, as well as All-American Status, I competed in the Olympic trials. I have traveled overseas to Korea, England, and South America for archery. Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover? I earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

  • Springs Ranch Golf Club
Snow-capped peaks peer over Springs Ranch Golf Course, adding a scenic backdrop to a 7,107-yard layout that reflects the player-friendly design philosophy of course architect Richard M. Phelps. In a gesture of sympathy for golfers who crush seemingly perfect drives only to find their ball in the angry grip of a well-concealed bird watcher, Richard placed hazards in plainly visible locations with few to no blind spots. However, transparency doesn't always transfer to success on the course—Springs Ranch packs plenty of hazard-ridden holes that demand precise shots, including the 404-yard, par-4 third hole, where golfers must avoid a pond off of the tee and clear a waste bunker with their approach shot or a perfectly timed kick. Along with two ponds and a gauntlet of bunkers, tall grasses line the fairways, tempering aggressive play and adding an authentic, Scottish feel to the links-style layout. Springs Ranch also offers a driving range, lessons, and clinics taught by resident aces. After a day at the links, golfers can revive muscles weary from bench-pressing golf carts with a burger, bratwurst, or platter of fish 'n' chips at the Springs Ranch Bar and Grill. Course at a Glance: 18-hole, par-72 course Length of 7,107 yards from the farthest tees Course rating of 72.9 from the farthest tees Slope rating of 136 from the farthest tees Five tee options Scorecard

The best shoes are ones that have some grip on the bottom, but no enough to inhibit movement! I find a shoe similar to Toms work the best! What was the inspiration to start or run this business? I have always loved dancing; however, I found Salsa at a turning point in my life where I was very unhappy. Salsa became an instant healing activity for me!... almost like a therapy. I want to share that with the world. However, no depression is required to come out and dance with me! What do you love most about your job? I love the art of both dancing and teaching! My favorite thing is to see a person transform and grow with the knowledge I have provided. I enjoy the wonder of seeing what types of efforts create different types of results. It is a beautiful process!
