What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
CrossFit Proper is family owned, community fueled, and results driven. With the use of CrossFit as our platform, which can be scaled for people who are brand new to working out or those who are looking to take it to the next level, we can get you happier, healthier, and fitter.
Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
A coach is leading the group as well as motivating each individual person throughout their workout. We make sure you are safe first, then push your limits to "Be Better" through the workouts. The fun factor is high and so is the personal experience with the instruction of a coach.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Passion for helping people "Be Better". We have found that fitness, when worked on, improves all aspects of your life, not just your body. Want to be happier? Want to perform better at work? Want to be a more loving sibling/parent/spouse? We have found that CrossFit improves all of these things.
What do you love most about your job?
The moment in the workout where someone's eyes light up, they find some kind of spark, drive and determination that they didn't think they had. Right when a person walks in to workout, we believe in them. It's our job to lead them to finding that same belief within themselves.
After meeting the physical demands of army training and working for two decades in the fitness industry, president of Custom Fitness Concepts Tom Kalka channeled his health and fitness savvy into CFC's training programs. His expert team of personal trainers visits homes and corporate offices to lead patrons in custom workout routines. Furthering fat-burning efforts, educational seminars on conditioning, nutrition, and orchestrating funerals for annihilated calories prime attendees for a salubrious lifestyle shift. CFC instructors also chisel away unwanted fat with a boot-camp series, whose ever-shifting medley of calisthenics and strength training was deemed the country's second-best boot camp in 2008 by Exercise TV.
The origin of Team Appleby Fitness is a tale of two Applebys. Steve Appleby grew up in Southern California, and led a very active lifestyle until the age of 17, when he lost his leg in a motorcycle accident. Determined, Steve rehabilitated and transformed himself, eventually making a career out of helping others do the same.
Tanya Appleby, meanwhile, hails from Northern California. For awhile, she led an inactive, unhealthy lifestyle. Then she met Steve in 2000. Inspired by his story, she, too, underwent a transformation, eventually dedicating herself to helping others just as Steve had years before. Today, Steve and Tanya both boast multiple certifications, including personal training. They combine their decades of experience to offer a variety of training programs, assisting clients in weight loss, muscle training, endurance training, and more.
