  • Golf is Fun
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? I teach Golf-O-Metrics. Golf broken down into isometric drills. You can learn golf in your office. I truly believe that anyone can play great golf. I say that, knowing that golf is the most difficult sport in the world and the rate of improvement can make the sport seem impossible, but not anymore. What's one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans? Golf is a finesse sport, a game of feel, no doubt. In order to feel the club, though, you need to maintain the most pressure with the fingers that give you the most feel. Stop for a second and feel the material of your shirt. What fingers did you use? Your thumb and forefinger, of course. What was the inspiration to start or run this business? I know I have always had a coach mentality. For years I have enjoyed helping and serving people and helping others improve in life. I enjoyed coaching little league so much, that it made me start thinking about coaching full time. Golf is the sport I love and I want to help others play great golf. What do you love most about your job? I love helping people. There are so many benefits to the journey of learning golf and developing a great golf swing that span from personal to business. Being able to share that with others is awesome. Many do not start or continue golf because of the cost and difficulty. I can help with both.

  • TRICKS Gymnastics, Dance & Swim
Founded with the goal of bolstering childhood development via confidence- and fitness-boosting programs, Tricks Gymnastics, and Swim's team of instructors keeps kids of all ages active and engaged via a host of high-energy classes. The highly skilled and friendly crew works hard to foster a nurturing environment within each class, keeping a close eye on the kids while teaching them new skills via positive reinforcement and recognition of effort. Meanwhile, experienced coaches man gymnastics programs designed to combat inactivity and encourage healthy lifestyles. Young ones aged 0–5 burn excess energy and hone flexibility during Tumblebunny classes, and big kids build strength and character thanks to both noncompetitive and competitive programs. A variety of special events include date nights that enable parents to sneak off for an evening of fun while their progeny plays at the gym. The Folsom location further fortifies its kinetic curriculum with swim programs focused on teaching pupils the essentials of water safety and basic swimming techniques. Paddlers grouped into classes by age hop into the crystalline pool, splashing about in waters kept at a balmy 89 degrees to ward off loitering snowflakes.

  • Spare Time Clubs
Since 1972, Spare Time Clubs has evolved into a 10-club, full-service family sports club company that includes programs for both adults and children. Each location varies in size—some boasting multiple complexes—and houses amenities such as lighted tennis courts, pools, kids’ play areas, and fitness centers. At the Diamond Hills and El Dorado Hills locations, members can shine up in the onsite European spas, and the jewel of the Gold River club is a lighted stadium court encircled by a 5,000 square-foot observation deck. In the event of inclement weather or courts being overrun by ball-chasing dogs, players can schedule time at the dedicated indoor-tennis center, where eight fully sectioned-off, championship courts glow under the power of tournament-level lighting. World-class coaches develop kids’ court skills at the junior tennis academy, students of which can practice with an unlimited number of sessions at any of Spare Time’s other clubs.

  • Will Robins Golf
When the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami struck his hotel, Will Robins thought his professional golf career was over. He and his wife survived the tragedy, but a broken clavicle meant the end of Robins' champion-caliber swing. As a result, England's 1995 national junior champion decided on a new way to impact the golf world: train tomorrow's champions. In 2008, Will founded Will Robins Golf as a school for adults, children, and high-school players hoping to unlock their full potential. Will has since recruited a team of talented coaches, and the company has expanded to a handful of locations around California. At each, golfers gather for team-oriented group lessons, during which they hone the finesse and patience necessary to avoid knocking each other's balls away in midair. Instructors, meanwhile, fuse their own wisdom with video analysis and other tools to drastically improve scores in just a few short weeks.

  • Robinson's Taekwondo
Clint Robinson's U.S. Air Force duty took him around the world, but it was his time in South Korea that made the biggest mark. There, he learned the art of tae kwon do—and the positive fitness and values associated with it. When he returned to the states and left the Air Force, it didn't take long for him to found his own martial-arts school. More than 40 years and over a dozen locations later, Robinson's Taekwondo continues to thrive on the same principles on which Clint founded his business: excellence, personal attention, and tradition. He now counts children's, adult, and family programs as part of his curriculum. With continued training, students of all ages not only hone their fitness, but also improve their mental sharpness, self-confidence, and discipline.
