  • The Laurels Salon of Distinction
Inside a small brick building adorned with a chimney and green trim, Dave and Carol McEndaffer work amid lilac walls and potted plants. It’s a lovely setting for a couple in the business of beautifying people, which they have extensive experience in. The duo has owned salons throughout the past 37 years and added Laurels Salon of Distinction to their stable more than a decade ago. They've studied with seasoned stylists; while Dave focuses on hair, Carol pours her efforts into skin care, wellness, and restoration treatments for baldness and thinning hair. In addition to cuts and ammonia-free color, they cosset their clientele with massages, spray tanning, and waxing. The salon is stationed across the street from Colorado State University, so it’s a convenient spot to de-stress after an exam or to cover your eyes with cucumbers before a scary PowerPoint presentation.

  • Deep Blue Massage
With the pollution, bacteria, pollen, and flu bugs floating through the air at any given moment, the human body is under constant attack. Deep Blue Massage gives bodies the tools to fight back against those attackers with a variety of purifying and detoxifying therapies. Take halotherapy, for instance. Inside a cocoon-shaped tank, the therapy's constant stream of salt aerosol washes over the body and into the lungs, killing bacteria and fungi on the skin and mucous membranes. For full-body purification, there's the ion cleanse, a footbath that purges clients' systems of environmental toxins in a mere 30 minutes to help relieve a number of ailments. Beyond detoxifying, therapists also treat patients with massages, tailoring deep-tissue and hot-stone techniques to soothe muscles. Deep-tissue laser therapy is another specialty; laser beams send heated energy into the body to relieve pain and probably also impart superpowers.

  • Xanadu Med Spa
Xanadu Med Spa's cadre of skin specialists and medically trained technicians apply heat-insulating body wraps in 90-minute sessions. First, staff gently exfoliate bodies with a rich sugar scrub, then apply a hydrating body mask with artisanal care, creating a corporeal canvas as eye-pleasing as van Gogh's Starry Navel. Recumbent clients are then wrapped for about 20 minutes in a special heat-insulating material that helps the mask's moisture penetrate the skin's surface. Once the wrap is removed, physique stewards massage the mask from the skin with steamed towels and apply body butter, much as Richard Nixon's advisers removed the stage jowls from his face every night.

  • Stacy McMullen Studios
Stacy McMullen’s goal is simple: to get her clients to relax and unwind. But on her way to accomplishing that goal, she’s done anything but sit back and relax herself. Her credentials are as diverse as her energy is unflappable; aside from being a certified orthopedic and sports massage therapist, she’s also a Pilates instructor, a nationally registered paramedic, and a current fire academy student. These areas of her expertise culminate inside of Stacy McMullen Studios, where Stacy and her staff offer massage, facials, aromatherapy salt glow body treatments, and integrated movement exercise Pilates. Otherwise known as IM=XPilates, this fitness regimen combines Pilates with strength and cardio training, yoga, and a ballet bar to provide a comprehensive fitness regimen that helps with posture and movement patterns.

Today, she utilizes more than seven years of massage experience when assuaging muscles with prenatal massage, relieving tension with deep-tissue massage, or promoting a healthy energy flow with reiki techniques. Along with massage, Terri offers doula services for expecting mothers, ear-candling treatments, and all-natural healing products.
