TKO Fitness' instructors get along swimmingly, even though they all love to fight. They boast a range of expertise garnered in careers as professional boxers while earning black belts in tae kwon do, or studying exercise science in college. They use their experience to conduct kickboxing classes, which utilize over 20 heavy bags; mixed-martial-arts classes, which are held in a cage-walled arena; and traditional boxing lessons, hosted in their floor-mounted, standard-sized boxing ring. In addition to their pugilistic fitness activities, they host a gym's worth of equipment for more standard workouts, including kettlebells and TRX suspension harnesses.
Although the art of taekwondo may have origins thousands of years into Korea's past, Master Michael Wegmann and his wife Julia inject a modern approach at Vision Martial Arts. Together, they teach effective techniques to kids, women, and men, imparting equally valuable lessons in self-defense, exercise, and mental discipline. They run their six academies with help from a team of trained instructors, who all focus on developing mentor-like relationships with their students through personal attention and powerful speeches delivered atop school desks. At select locations, they also teach a form of kickboxing similar to krav maga.
Without the crowds and distractions of a standard gym, clients at NuLevel Training can focus entirely on fitness. Nationally certified trainers Dawn Christley and Will Mann tailor workout plans to their clients' goals, but they know that exercise isn't all it takes to get in shape. That's why they also provide nutrition and lifestyle advice, and, most of all, motivation to power clients through it all.
Though certified CrossFit coach Andrea Logan helps fit-seeking clients to turn their lives around, she's had her fair share of challenges to overcome. Logan struggled for 13 years with an eating disorder, but rather than kowtowing to adversity, she not only punched through her hurdles, but used them to further fuel their drive and study of fitness.
With 20 years of eclectic sports and training experience, her voice reverberates across CrossFit APx's no-frills facilities, motivating students through constantly changing routines of high-intensity workouts ranging from pull-ups to push presses. Each exercise is designed to jet-propel students into the CrossFit core skills of endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, accuracy, and remembering long lists. The center strives to create a strong sense of community among its students, welcoming new members of all ages and fitness levels and promptly squashing any unfriendly back-alley spelling-bee competitions.

Jazzercise is 60 minutes of cardio, strength training, and stretching that incorporates moves from hip-hop, yoga, Pilates, jazz dance, kickboxing, and resistance training with handheld weights. Dancing With the Stars multiple-champion Cheryl Burke is a big fan of Jazzercise's improvisational workouts, though luckily participants won't need her dance moves to get the most out of each class. Those prone to first-class jitters, though, can review the basic moves online before attending. Expect to burn off up to 500 calories with each go-round.
