The inspiring trainers at each MetaBody location lead troops of workouteers in results-oriented workouts several times weekly. Sweat sessions utilize a variety of exercises and disciplines to produce full-body results in a supportive environment, ideal for beginners and hard-core core-hardeners alike. During any class, motivational instructors will use the instinctual distrust of routine to their advantage. Begin a day of litigating with a refreshing early-morning boot-camp session, or wind down by burning evidence and pounds with a late-evening yoga class. Muscles are kept guessing with new and challenging moves during each session, so participants never fall into a boring, ineffective routine, such as regular teeth brushing. In addition to the fitness classes, students receive a success guide to help prepare for imminent pound loss, a nutrition guide, and a $100 gift certificate for individual coaching. Because the pass sets a 10-class cap at any given location, roving fitness mavens can further shake up their workout regimens by vetting a series of classes or instructors that work best for them.
As they enter the training circle at Curves, female guests come face-to-face with the smiles of other women. And just as points on a circle share a common distance from the circle's center, workout participants share the experiences of those nearby, trading stations throughout the 30-minute training session. One minute is spent on a piece of strength-training equipment built for feminine frames and designed to work two opposing muscle groups with a single movement. Exercisers then move on to a recovery station, where they run, jog, or dance to maintain heart rates and keep platforms in place during momentary losses of gravity.
Whether training for a tournament or learning the rules for the first time, tennis players have plenty to love about the Pennsbury Racquet Club. Nine indoor courts, each newly resurfaced and illuminated with extra-bright, eco-friendly lighting, invite players to test their skills against each other, a ball machine, or the disapproving sports announcer in their head. To take players' games to the next level, USPTA- and PTR-certified coaches, some with more than 25 years of experience, offer private and semi-private lessons. There's also an on-site racket repair center, where players can get their equipment restrung and customized by a professional tech who's worked for Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, and Maria Sharapova. Pennsbury Racquet Club also offers fitness classes such as Zumba, Piloxing, Pilates, and more.
Laureen Mikos was barely walking before she started tapping, stepping, and swinging. At age five, she discovered a love of dance, studying jazz, ballet, tap, and modern dance styles before most people grow out of their baby feet. Over the years, her repertoire expanded to include hiphop and bellydancing, as well as Zumba dance fitness.
At Shakin' It Up Dance and Fitness Center, she leads a team of personal trainers, dancers, and fitness instructors to impart choreographed wisdom in dance and exercise classes. The center's curriculum introduces guests to ballroom and jazz dance as well as more upbeat options, such as Zumba fitness classes set to a soundtrack of Latin tunes.
When she was a child, Asa Cansler struggled with her weight. This experience pushed
the owner of H.O.P.E. Fit Club to transform her body and eventually become a nutritionist and fitness trainer. But she's not just any fitness trainer?Cansler is certified by Billy Blanks, the eight-time World Champion and founder of Tae Bo Fitness as well as the American Council of Exercise. This certification allows her to lead others through the pulse-pounding, body-morphing Tae Bo routine. A combination of boxing, dance, and martial arts, the workout helps students shed unwanted pounds and tone limbs and torsos until they qualify as body doubles for Greek statues. And, to ensure other kids don't have to deal with the same struggles that she did, Cansler also welcomes kids ages 5-17 to workout for free with a paying adult.
