It's not often that you find yourself falling headfirst toward the earth, wind whipping by, before you pull a cord on your chute and float gently to the ground. This thrill-seeking experience is available to first-time and returning divers seven days a week at the recently completely remodeled Skydive Spaceland, which sends people plummeting out of planes on a regular basis. Tandem dives pair newbies with experienced instructors, and skydiving lessons teach students how to take the plunge on their own, with students able to get their basic skydiving licenses in a week or less. After their first landing, patrons can commemorate their jump with a special logbook, proving they've conquered their fear of heights and cotton that could shrink in the dryer. And visitors wishing to continue their adventure after the jump is over can take advantage of campsites located in the area.
At Skydive Georgia, first-time jumpers can skydive tandem-style, strapped to a certified instructor. After mastering the tandem jump, adventurers can enroll in a Level 1 AFF course to prepare for a solo dive, or complete the 7 Level AFF course, requiring them to open their own parachute and land with radio assistance. Available only after several hours of training, these flights earn divers AFF licensing, which allows them to skydive anywhere in the world.
Family and friends can watch their loved ones master the skies from a spacious viewing deck instead of having to find a sturdy enough cloud to climb upon. Divers can also watch themselves afterward via the center’s professionally-made flight DVDs, complete with video footage and photos.
No matter the season, the experienced instructors at Skydive Monroe help students discover Atlanta’s sky-high beauty while gliding through the air at 14,000 feet. They teach students of all experience levels the ins and outs of these giant leaps, working with beginners through tandem jumps, instructor-assisted deployments, and accelerated freefall classes. They also oversee jumps for more experienced divers, and welcome non-jumpers to ride along in the plane for an additional fee. Staff members document each trip on video, allowing jumpers to relive the thrill of the jump without painting tiny cityscapes on their trampolines.

Skydive Atlanta has special certification from the U.S. Department of Defense, as they are the training home for the Silver Wings, a U.S. Army parachute team. After a short class you will jump attached to a United States Parachute Association certified instructor, freefalling at 120 MPH for around one minute. Divers spend 5 to 7 minutes floating down under a parachute, landing just adjacent to their 15,000 sq. ft. facility. For an additional fee, Skydive Atlanta also offers video and photo packages to immortalize your once in a lifetime experience.
