  • Gottschalk Music Center
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? Our Summer Music Academy provides students a fun-loving, tailored musical experience. Our instructors will help students develop more advanced skills on their instrument, while teaching them to understand the importance of reading around the notes to create a fully articulate and harmonious band. Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring? Instruments will be provided for the two classes included: Exploring the Instruments and Beginning Violin. Students simply need to bring their excitement to learn! What was the inspiration to start or run this business? Gottschalk Music Center has been in Modesto since 1951. The new owners combined their talents to keep this great asset to Music in Modesto. The focus of the business continues to be the support of music education and encourage students on a rewarding journey that will last their entire life. What do you love most about your job? The Ladies of Gottschalk Music Center appreciate the joy of someone coming into the store with their child for their first instrument and then sharing how their own parent did the same for them when they were young. Music, truly, makes a difference in our lives!

facet: Main type: Traditional locale: en_US title: St. Patrick's Day Lucky Fest facet_type_id: 419a83c0-5f3a-1032-bbdb-e6f73acf499f html_text: What do you call it when 25 pubs spontaneously appear in a city square? A very lucky day. The party runs from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. at a gallery of custom-made, Ireland-themed bars and restaurants on 11th Street between K and L. But the canvas drinking holes are hardly the most eye-catching part of the party—that honor is a toss up between Grace O'Malley's Fantastic Voyage, a DJ stage shaped like a life-size pirate ship, and the EDM ball held at 51 Fifty Celtic Chaos Irish Castle, a fortress of funk built for one night only.

  • Tresetti's World Caffe
These days, you'll usually find Chef Ramiro crafting dishes in the kitchen at Tresetti's World Caffé. But before he arrived in downtown Modesto, Ramiro was paying his dues in the most glamorous way possible, working alongside famous chefs such as Wolfgang Puck and cooking for the likes of Bill Clinton, Dean Martin, and Jerry Lewis. It seems that Ramiro learned a thing or two from catering to the stars. At Tresetti's, the chef transforms locally sourced ingredients into stunning interpretations of global cuisine. Ramiro and his team have a particular knack for pairings; their dinner menu alone features roasted garlic and brie with a crusty baguette and lollipop-style coconut shrimp with pineapple salsa. To help you navigate, Ramiro has even studded his menu with little flags that show each dish's favorite Olympic national team.

  • Modesto Symphony Orchestra
When the Modesto Symphony Orchestra played their first concert in 1931, the town had 17,000 residents—making it the smallest settlement with its own symphony orchestra in the nation. But even as their city has grown around them, the orchestra's members have retained their timeless commitment to fine music. The group continues to perform seasons that blend soul-stirring classics with toe-tapping pops pieces. The Modesto Symphony Youth Orchestra also adds their freshly sprouted strings to the mix, either during their own concerts or guest appearances with the ensemble.
