Q&A with Saidah Kinerman, Instructor/Owner
Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
I offer a variety of different exercises to meet all fitness levels. I believe the most important thing is self efficacy. It is my goal that everyone participating in class will be able to complete at least one exercise well. There is also a lot of peer support from other class members and encouragement from the instructor.
Sweating to the oldies is acceptable, but sweating to the blues less so. Do you find that certain styles and genres of music generate more intense workouts?
Definitely, most of the music that is played in class is pop and today's top hits. Mainly upbeat current tunes.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
This class combines cycling with core routines and high intensity water workouts. I relocated from California where fitness fusion is common. This class is offered in the world-renowned Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta, is convenient, and offers a total body workout.
The Appalachian Trail stretches from Georgia to Maine, running 2,180 miles over mountains, rocky slopes, and deep valleys. Since it was established in 1925, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) has cared for the trail, maintaining 250,000 acres of public land. The organization educates hikers on Leave No Trace camping and why it's not a good idea to challenge a bear to a hugging contest.
Volunteers and trail crews build and repair shelters along the footpath and engage youth and community members in outdoor activities. In addition to these human-oriented services, the ATC works to protect endangered species living along the trail and to preserve the land's watershed streams and migratory corridor.
PartnershipsInAction's three races—a 5K run and walk, a youth 1K run, and a 100-yard dash—gets runners’ endorphins pumping for a charitable cause. 100 percent of the proceeds go towards funding programs to alleviate global poverty in all parts of the world. The nonprofit organization fights hunger, illiteracy, and disease in the developing world, marshalling grassroots and community-based solutions.

Spurred by a desire to connect with other adventurers sharing his passion for exploring wilderness territory, Reginald Mitchell began leading hiking trips throughout Georgia and the Southeast. Though he regularly helms mountain-climbing excursions on local slopes such as Kennesaw Mountain and Amicalola Falls, he's also traversed mountains in areas as disparate as Tennessee, California, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Middle Earth. Sandwiches and trail mix fuel hikers on most tours as they enjoy hiking's numerous health benefits, such as weight loss, endurance building, and stress relief.
