As they stroll along the green, undulating grounds of the Marriott's Wildfire Golf Club, guests watch as a fire pit slowly comes into view. White sand golf hazards slope along the grassy surface, and rows of palm trees sway. Then, they arrive at their destination: Meritage Steakhouse. Inside, spotted cowhides cover chairs beneath cream-and-burgundy ceilings high enough to allow room for a black-tie food fight. Expansive windows complement meals with natural sunlight and landscape views.
All of this is the setting for the restaurant's main draw: steaks. Filet or porterhouse, dressed with b?arnaise or white truffle butter, paired with lobster tail or scallops, the steaks are filled with a soft textured tenderness that only comes from using the best aged, marbled cuts. Meritage operates on an organic, sustainable philosophy, and partners with a largely local community of farmers, fisheries, and artisans. All of the steaks hail from just two ranches?one in California and one in Colorado?that pride themselves on their cattle's vegetarian diets.
As a child, Dannielli Marcelino never wanted to be a princess?she aimed straight for the title of queen. Her visits to Brazil's many salons and spas drew her attention to the meticulous waxers, whose dexterity and knack for imparting confidence resonated with her and inspired her to become an expert in their delicate art. After 15 years as a licensed aesthetician and laser technician, Dannielli has cemented that reputation at her business, Rio Wax Salon, where she is known as the Queen of Waxing.
Although deftness is an essential part of her success, Dannielli knows that the breeziest Brazilian and bikini waxes require more than seasoned hands. She has developed an exclusive formula?part hard wax, part royal pink wax, and part honey wax?to make hair removal virtually painless.
Each licensed aesthetician at the salon can deliver a quick and comfortable waxing experience, since each is trained by Dannielli herself. All waxing services adhere to the spa's strict no-double-dipping policy, meaning that no spatula ever re-enters a pot of wax, ensuring a safe and hygienic service for each new client.
Attitude plays another role, and Dannielli was praised for her calming warmth by AzCentral.com's Best, in which Rio Wax Salon won Best Place for a Bikini Wax in 2011. Her royal standing has also led to multiple appearances in media outlets such as Good Morning Arizona and Perfectify magazine.
Rio Wax Salon's licensed aestheticians are not exclusively waxers, however. They perform a range of beauty and wellness treatments in their verdant garden getaway, including laser hair removal, custom facials, and massages. To further boost their skin's beach-ready look or prepare for an office swimsuit competition, clients can step into a VersaSpa sunless tanning booth or browse a selection of sultry bikinis Dannielli has brought from Brazil.
According to Q magazine, the British music journal more prone to scrutiny than hyperbole, Depeche Mode is not only “the most popular electronic band the world has ever known,” they’re also one of the “50 Bands That Changed the World.” Kind words indeed for the group that once proclaimed words to be “very unnecessary” in their global hit “Enjoy the Silence.” Although critical focus tends to trumpet their murky synthesizers and machinist beats, the music of Depeche Mode is anti-robotic. It’s absolutely humanist, from the sing-along exuberance of “People Are People” to the indelible surf-guitar lure of “Personal Jesus.” After 30 years and over 100 million albums sold throughout the globe, the core group of singer Dave Gahan, keyboardist and bassist Andy Fletcher, and chief songwriter, guitarist, and synth guru Martin Gore continues to fuel one of pop music’s most well-oiled machines.
Per the name of their 13th studio album, Delta Machine, the band adds a bit more blues to their sound. Also sure to please fans is the return of Flood, who produced Depeche Mode masterworks such as Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion, and stepped back into the sound-booth to mix the new record. Looking downright dapper with a voice as full as his hair, Dave Gahan commands the stage though new songs and greatest hits in a set that changes nightly and will leave audiences “surprised and delighted,” according to Andy Fletcher in a recent NPR interview.
"Heaven," the new single from Delta Machine

Park Avenue Blow Dry Salon and Nail Bar is located more than 2,400 miles from the famed Park Avenue. Despite this fact, the team of beauty professionals here craft decidedly urbane, New York City–inspired looks. That begins with expert cuts and corrective and creative applications of Schwarzkopf Professional color and extends to other services, including blowouts, makeup applications, and nailcare treatments.
The spot's classic Park Avenue blowout includes a kevin.murphy signature wash and blow-dry. The Hampton blowout adds a 10-minute scalp massage, and the Uptown blowout includes a moisturizing hair mask designed to repair damage caused by using hot tools or air drying with a jet engine.
At the makeup bar, makeup artists glam up peepers with smokey eyes and lush lashes or get clients in and out the door with speedy 30-minute full-face applications using such products as Makeup For Ever and the Balm. They also ensure guests are camera-ready with airbrush makeup and false eyelashes. A complicated braid, such as an mohawk-esque inside-out twist, completes the look.
The technicians at the nail bar keep digits looking pretty with Downtown Gelish manicures, which stay chip-free for up to two weeks, and Manhattan deluxe pedicures, which soften skin with paraffin wax before an application of classic nail lacquer.
At the mother-daughter-owned Primp and Blow: A Blow Dry Bar, stylists focus on a single goal: speedily making over customers? hair and makeup in an upscale, scissor-free salon setting. Stylists focus their services around blowouts, mastering the art of transforming wet strands into pin-straight 'dos, big curls, or the flirtatious ?Scottsdale ponytail.? Products from Bumble and Bumble or Moroccanoil seal in styles, which can last for days or until clients attempt to brush their hair with a cotton-candy spinner. Cosmetologists wield equally effective serums from brands such as Rain and La Bella Donna?two lines of organic mineral makeup.
Rather than getting hair styled only alongside a clip or before a fancy occasion, these fashion-forward stylists reason that everyday events call for a polished look, be it a meeting, big date, or highly publicized nap. Primp and Blow has grabbed local buzz from publications such as AZFoothills.com?for which a writer declared, ?I tried Primp and Blow for the first time on New Years Eve and was amazed with my look. In with a baseball cap and oversized shades and out looking, and feeling, red carpet ready.? The overwhelming positive reviews helped the owners to open a second location. Both salons reflect the glamorous, everyday kind of luxury the team hopes to deliver, enhancing customer experiences with digital magazines on iPads and the glow of chandeliers.

Dottie's mission is not to just produce great haircuts so that our customers look great on the outside but to also make them feel good on the inside.
Our goal is to stop time while you were with us, and have you fully enjoy your experience.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Selena Eva was inspired to start this business after working for different employers that had a good concept/vision but didn't really "live" it.
Our goal and mission is not to just talk about how we are different but to show it, and to be consistent with our techniques.
What do you love most about your job?
Selena loves the fact that she is able to make each person that sits in her chair feel valued, respected, and cared for. In a world that is so fast paced and driven by technology she is able to freeze time and slow down your chaotic day just long enough to destress and relax.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
All feedback is good feedback but the best compliment was from a male customer that told me it felt so great to have someone take the time that I did on his hair, that I made him feel special and on top of that it was the best haircut he had ever gotten.
