  • Eric Gould Photography
Having shot more than 30,000 subjects throughout his career as a photographer, including many Silicon Valley business figures, Eric Gould understands how to create a good photo in any setting. His adeptness at communicating with subjects carries into his photography workshops, where he conveys difficult concepts clearly and methodically, saving students from such rookie mistakes as shooting with the lens cap on or turning the flash on while taking pictures of your imaginary friend's third grade graduation. In his own photo sessions, he frames professional clients in business portraits and headshots, high-school seniors in youthful poses, athletes in midaction, and a wide spectrum of people and places encountered on international travels.

  • Checkerbox Photography
Jonathan Mandel attributes much of his current success as a photographer to the people who gave him his start at 8 years old. There was Mr. King, his photography teacher, who taught him how to develop pictures. And his father, who gave him his first camera and patiently allowed a bathroom in their apartment to become a darkroom. That was a while ago, and yet something he learned early on still lives on in Jonathan's work today: a sense of discovery and play. His clients often credit the visual artist with making his sessions fun, bringing out natural moments, and demonstrating a rare talent for steadying a tripod inside a bouncy castle. Whether capturing happy families for portraits or documenting wedding days, his unique eye for light casts each shot in unexpected, striking tones.

  • Photograph & Frame
Effectively capturing significant moments on film is a specialized art form, which can go unrecognized if not displayed well. To help their clients showcase their treasured memories in sophisticated arrangements, Photograph & Frame’s staff developed a system they call “modular picture framing.” This system cuts on cost, using a premade selection of framing goods. Clients can mix and match standardized museum-quality mats and frames, which are all-wood and locally made, to create design-magazine-worthy photo wallscapes. The staff also preserves photos with custom-framing options, cutting mats and forming frames to fit especially large family photos and snapshots that spill into the fifth dimension. They’ve also curated a selection of photographs from local artists and archives to help patrons decorate their homes in sweeping seascapes and bustling city streets. To ensure the photos’ quality and level of detail, most of the images are developed in a darkroom on Fuji Crystal Archive papers.
