For all but a privileged few, driving a Ferrari or Lamborghini is just a dream—no more attainable than throwing a perfect game or going to space with your dog. This didn't sit well with the crew at Club Sportiva, which is why they decided to apply the timeshare concept to exotic cars. Now, club members and average joes can take the wheel of fine autos once reserved for celebrities and society’s elite.
Available for luxury rental or timeshare membership, Club Sportiva’s fleet includes some of the fastest and rarest cars on the planet, from the 400 horsepower of the Porsche 911 Carrera S 991 to the scissor doors of the Lamborghini Murcielago. Members are also privy to even more exclusive wheels, such as the Ferrari F430 F1, which can launch from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds thanks to 490 horsepower under its hood. In addition to the Sprints, Club Sportiva also hosts exotic car tours, during which drivers can sample the speed of their favorite supercars, feel the rush of the road, and hear the whistle of the wind through their teeth.
The San Jose SaberCats were a part of professional sports history even before they stepped on the field. On October 26, 1994, San Jose, along with four other cities, earned the approval of the Arena Football League to create an expansion franchise. The five-team expansion was one of the largest seen in American professional sports; not since the NHL added six teams in 1967 had a league experienced such growth. They chose the SaberCats moniker to pay homage to the large prehistoric predators known to stalk the hills of California in search of mankind's first dentists.
With a heated fan base behind them, the SaberCats refused to let that first headline be their sole achievement. Under head coach Todd Shell, the 1995 SaberCats went on to win eight games and their division as an expansion team, a feat no other AFL team has repeated. Since then, the boys in green have launched the careers of many notable players and won three ArenaBowl championships, the most recent in 2007.
Trail Head Cyclery is a premier builder and seller of bikes, with the expertise to repair numerous bicycle issues and answer questions with expert answers. Other than bicycles, visitors will find a large amount of riding gear for sale; some items include apparel, tires and important bicycle components. Custom work can be done by the team, as well as regular routine services. Trail Head Cyclery may sometimes be involved in local events; if so, details are posted on the shop’s website. There might be a time when a customer isn’t sure if a particular bike is right for them; that’s why Trail Head promotes its Demo Bike Program. This program allows prospective purchasers to try out a bike and ride it on the trails to get a true feeling of what that bike is like. Set timeline parameters are in place for the program, but the timeline does enable program participants to use the bike for more than just the standard 24 hours. Contact Trail Head Cyclery today for more information.
The first time you enter La Dolce Velo you’ll be able to tell that it’s not just a bike shop—it’s a community. The shop has an incredible selection of bicycles, from commuter and recreational wheels to high-end racing bikes, as well as accessories. And their attention doesn’t stop once you’ve gotten the perfect bike--there are services here to maintain your bike for a lifetime. There’s even a trade up program for kids! The staff are eager to share their knowledge with you, but even more eager to go on a ride—join in on one of the weekly rides, like the social Sunday waffle ride, with stops along the way for breakfast and coffee.
