Q&A with Eric Walther, Owner
People go to spas to forget about the outside world. How does your decor help create an atmosphere where visitors can unwind?
The New Awakening treatment center is bathed in deep red tones, draped with silks, and adorned with imagery to help you feel warm and invited. With soft lighting and music to soothe the soul, you can melt away stresses and relax the mind.
Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job?
Holistic healthcare is my life's purpose and is what drives me to continue to hone my skills for the benefit of all.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Traditional healing arts have roots that go back over 1,600 years. This art incorporates various healing modalities that are intended to meet the specific needs of the client in order to attain maximum benefit.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Pairin Thai Massage is a therapeutic massage business with a welcoming traditional Thai environment. Pairin Thai Massage is decorated in traditional Thai style with furniture, fabric, and art work imported from Thailand. Our goal is to rejuvenate one's body, mind, and soul in a serene environment.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
We had the idea to create a traditional Thai therapeutic massage business in a serene and welcoming environment. One of the owners is from Thailand and we are passionate about the history, culture, and therapeutic benefits that have originated from Thailand. We want to share our passions with you!
What do you love most about your job?
Being able to share how passionate we are about Thailand with our customers while delivering impactful therapeutic benefits gained from Thai massage. We are passionate about giving our customers both a relaxing and rejuvenating Thai experience!
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
Best Massage Ever! Better than in Thailand!
Massage therapists often help only the individuals they treat, but Carol Carpenter had a broader vision than that. She copied the notes she took when studying massage therapy and opened her own school in Oakland, elucidating Eastern styles, Western styles, and kinesiology alike. Eventually, the school was supplied federal financial aid through the U.S. Department of Education and became one of the first accredited massage schools in California. Today, it spans seven campuses and has garnered a mention in the book The History of Massage.
The school aims to prepare students for careers they’ll love, and the program boasts an 88% job-placement rate. The curriculum demands that students complete a 900-hour program, which includes anatomy study and hands-on practice with real clients.
Each National Holistic Institute campus boasts its own perks and educational advantages. For example, students and massage clients in San Jose enjoy a renovated courtyard and special events such as workshops and alumni nights. And because it's located in the heart of Silicon Valley, there's no shortage of tense muscles to work on.
Hot stones, soothing kneads, and Thai stretches relax clients at Believe it Massage at Dao Healing Center. State-certified massage therapist Lynetta Denniston specializes in a variety of massages, including Swedish and reiki. But she believes in nurturing more than just muscles. As a life coach and yoga practitioner, she dedicates herself to helping clients untie tension at the source, adopting healthier, happier lifestyles through meditation and breathing exercises.
The massage therapist's clients outside of the spa: have included the professional ballet company Ballet San Jose
The massage therapist's clients inside the spa: benefit from personally customized treatments tailored to address individual needs
Massage modalities the therapist has learned: 16+
Specialties include: Swedish massage, deep-tissue, prenatal, hot-stone, and Thai massage
For Touch Of Serenity's owner Sarah, giving a massage is about one thing: progress. She wants to help people move toward their goals, be it diminishing pain, relieving anxiety or tension, or helping sore muscles to heal. Each route requires a different technique, and Sarah blends five different modalities into each session, customizing her process to her clients needs. She uses methods ranging from Swedish massage to acupressure and Eselen techniques.
