The instructors at Masterpiece Mixers Paint & Party Studio supply the canvases, paints, and brushes, requiring visitors to bring only their creativity. Studios lead all-level painting classes that last up to 1.5 to 3 hours and focus on subjects ranging from the natural, such as birds and flowers, to still-life guitars, vases, and wine bottles. In some themed sessions, instructors also teach groups to paint abstract pieces or create their own variations on famous landscape paintings that, unlike the originals, can include dinosaurs. Some sessions follow a special date-night structure. At every location, the staff members encourage visitors to bring their own wine, beer, and snacks if desired.
Artistic Adventures teaches students to embrace the idea that their own creativity knows no bounds. This studio runs classes in glass fusion, pottery throwing, and painting with acrylics and watercolors. Learn the correct techniques for a new skill or explore a hidden passion in drawing.
“So many people go through life looking at things without really seeing them,” muses Mary Buck, founder of Studio 2.8. Her mission as a teacher is twofold: to help her pupils see things and to help them share what they see with others. “Photography lets you paint with light,” she tells her classes, “but you have to go in with a vision.” She gives her pupils the tools to realize their visions during workshops that delve into all facets of digital photography, from the basics of adjusting f-stop to the advanced skills needed to capture a delicious smell of pixels.
It isn't surprising that Buck is a photography teacher; photography runs in her blood. Both of her siblings and her sister-in-law are skilled photographers, and she's been aiming her own lens at subjects since she was just 18. As a professional, her talent for catching dimples and laughter has led to portraits that families can pass down to new generations or Earth-conquering aliens. Seventeen years after starting her own studio, her passion for the art form has only grown, and her enthusiasm for sharing what she calls “that fire in my belly” with her students still burns strong.
Eye Candy Art Studio's friendly atmosphere makes it comfortable for anyone to pick up a paintbrush and decorate canvases and pottery with friends—and sometimes a little liquid courage. The two most popular painting classes are Brush & Lush, which is BYOB, and Coffee & Canvas, a daytime session fueled by java. Guests can peruse the calendar's projects, decide which picture they'd like to hang on their wall, and sign up for the class in advance, or they can walk in without making an appointment. Kids can stretch their creative boundaries during clay-sculpting classes, summer camp, and craft nights with pizza. Special event workshops celebrate holidays with themed projects, and birthday parties entertain attendees with colorful crafts and paint-filled pinatas.
