Q&A with Pauline Tan, Studio Owner
Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
A boutique studio with a friendly and welcoming environment, combined with motivated, intuitive & encouraging teachers empower students towards physical and mental well-being. Smaller classes means you don't get lost in the crowd and we can teach you to modify and adapt your practice to YOUR needs with the help of our highly trained and caring teachers. We can also hold you accountable. Our classes are unique, creative and intentionally sequenced. We offer community challenges & events to deepen your yoga practice, increase fitness, stress-release, mindfulness and healthier nutrition.
Do you believe in the maxim, "No pain, no gain”? Why or why not?
We believe in balance. Challenging yourself opens the door to growth and often means hard work, but not always "pain" before you see benefits. Our classes offer many physical benefits such as improved flexibility, strength, joint mobility/stability, posture and circulation. We offer a caring community that invites you to come as you are and explore your own edge mindfully, as you grow into your own practice, strengthen your body, expand your heart and free your mind. We believe there is no quick fix or short-cut to lifelong health and fitness. It takes discipline, determination and patience.
When and how did you first develop a passion for fitness?
I started practicing yoga and Pilates about 16 years ago. I loved the feeling of getting stronger, while increasing my flexibility and mobility. I love the community of a yoga studio environment and how it can be so unique to the people that create it. After teaching for a number of years, I felt strongly led to offer a space to create a community that invites people to come as you are, where you can feel accepted, encouraged, empowered and safe. We want to help you be the very best version of YOU. Since my comprehensive Pilates training and 500 hr yoga training, I have taken hundreds of hours of additional training and workshops including Ashtanga yoga, Yoga for Athletes, anatomy and Universal Yoga. There are so many ways to practice and there are so many other aspects of yoga to explore deeper like pranayama and meditation. I look forward to studying yoga & Pilates for the rest of my life. It's not just a business or a job for me, it's truly a lifelong passion.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
