We all know that Mondays are the hardest day of the week to work out. The number of excuses you can make to skip your workout increase exponentially. You’re too tired. You’re too busy. You need another day off. This is a slippery slope. After a long weekend of partying with your friends and eating out at restaurants, your body is tired and sluggish and begging for exercise. You can kick it back into gear with our Reset class. Just as the name suggests, this class is designed to reset your body to help prepare it for the rest of the week.
This class focuses primarily on big body movements, using bodyweight exercises. Bodyweight exercises combine cardio and strength training to get your heart pumping while building up your muscles. Some added benefits include increased flexibility, better balance, and improved core strength. These workouts are super efficient and burn fat fast. You will also see better endurance as the weeks go by and you increase your reps. Bodyweight exercises serve as a great challenge to your muscles. These exercises are also great because they can be tailored to each individual’s abilities and fitness level, making it possible for everyone to participate. We will work your arms, legs, glutes, and abs to tone your body like never before. Of course, as a kickboxing class, we will also do bag work. You can expect to burn hundreds of calories in this high energy, transformative class.

You have conquered the Monday slump, and are probably feeling pretty good about working out yesterday. You have gotten through the hardest day of the week, and you should feel proud of yourself. But don’t rest on your laurels now! On Tuesdays, we step it up to the next level. We use dumbbells to add resistance into our training program. Adding resistance to your workout is a great way to build strength because it makes your muscles work against a force. In the areas where bodyweight exercises help you, adding weights increases the benefits tenfold. Using dumbbells helps build your muscles, which can improve your posture, decrease your risk of injury, strengthen your bone density, and help you to manage your pain. By focusing on building muscle mass, you are improving your kickboxing moves by adding more force behind them. Tuesdays are all about conquering the obstacles to increasing your strength. We will gradually and systematically increase the weight and number of reps week by week to get you stronger than you ever have been. As we burn fat through the whole body workout that is kickboxing, you will appreciate your Tuesdays even more, because all of that hard muscle will make you look more toned. Plus those muscles will give you the energy to get through all the other classes during the week. As always, we will do bag work as well, because you know it isn’t kickboxing without it! Wednesday is hump day, which means you are probably feeling pretty sore by now. You are halfway through the week, but it feels like it will never end. For the middle of the week, we focus on the middle of the body: the core. The core is aptly named because it is at the core of every physical activity we participate in. A strong core is central to a strong person. The core is also an important element to every kickboxing move. Because of this, we will incorporate core exercises into most classes, but on Wednesdays, we really focus on all the areas that comprise our core.
Your core stabilizes your body, and strengthening it has numerous benefits. If you suffer from back pain, strengthening your core would improve your posture, the muscles providing your spine with support, and therefore reduce your discomfort. You may also be surprised to find out that more core strength allows you to breathe easier because your diaphragm will be in the proper position. Easier breathing means easier workouts, and better quality of life.
If you have a belly you wish you could blast away, this will be your favorite class. Once you have committed to kickboxing, the cardiovascular benefits will help melt away your belly fat. After the work we do on Wednesdays, washboard abs will be waiting for you underneath. All you need to do is dedicate yourself to strengthening your core, and you will be amazed by the results. Your abs will be burning in the best way!
You have gotten through Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so you probably feel like you deserve a break. Well, that’s too bad, because we are going to take it up to the next level once again. Hey, if you want results, you need to put the work in, and that is exactly what you are doing on Thursdays! And Fridays are a rest day, so you know we have to get one last fantastic workout before you spend the day on the couch. On Thursdays, we focus on plyometrics to really push your limits.
Plyometrics refers to a type of exercise that used to be called “jump training.” It focuses on legs and glutes and is all about boosting muscle power. The inventor, Dr. Yuri Verkhoshanksy, observed the Olympians and noticed that they had more strength and power coming out of a higher altitude landing when their muscles were stretched. We learned from this the benefits of using explosive movements to build muscle. Plyometrics help to strengthen your body by doing short reps at full intensity. See an increase in agility, balance, coordination, and strength through these vigorous workouts. An insane amount of calories are burned in an intense but fun way. Plyometrics also benefit our workouts by decreasing the chance of injury because it trains your body to absorb force safely. If you’re worried that plyometrics sound too hard for you, don’t worry – plyometrics also can be adjusted for anyone’s needs.
Earn your rest day on Friday by kicking up on Thursday!
Our Saturday class is sandwiched between your two rest days, so you know we have to really bring it! Just because it is the weekend, doesn’t mean it is time to relax. If anything, this is when you should work your hardest. Get ready on Saturdays because this workout is insane!
The Mash Up class is just what it sounds like – a workout that brings together all the different training methods we explored throughout the week in our other classes. Combining bag work, plyometrics, ab work, and weight training, this fast-paced class is just what you need to get an above and beyond work out.
This high energy, full body workout epitomizes everything that Shred-It Kickboxing is all about. We combine body weight exercises, resistance training, core strengthening, and plyometrics to give you the best workout of your week.
