About Nippers Grill & Tap

It’s not uncommon to spot owners Steve and Amy Ward at Nippers Grill & Tap, greeting the regulars or cheering on a game of darts. The duo takes great pride in the neighborhood atmosphere of their cheerful pub, where friends meet to swap stories over pints of frosty beer and no one feels too intimidated to take the stage for at least one song during Friday and Saturday night karaoke. Boisterous carousers compete in friendly games of pool, pausing every now and again to root for a sports team or sniffle at a heartwarming allergy-medicine commercial playing on one of the numerous flat-screen TVs. Elsewhere, tables and chairs and a lengthy wood bar host mountains of nachos, plump wings, and crispy fried pickles. During warmer months, Nippers Grill & Tap hosts games of corn-hole on its outdoor patio.

The place was maybe 2/3 full around 7PM and apparently so understaffed it took about 45 minutes to an hour to deliver a sandwich order. Staff (friendly and working hard) blamed last day of groupon before expiring 7/3 for the rush, but the place wasn't full. Pretty smoky dirty looking kind of atmosphere. The regular clientele seem to reflect and appreciate that.

While they were friendly, the service was a bit slow, missed slightly on the two orders, and the restaurant/bar was smoke filled. Would be fine if you are a smoker. Terrible if not. Found they had an outdoor area to eat if preferred, but did not know until after sitting inside 55 minutes for food.

I would not have purchased the groupon if I was aware of their policy on accepting smokers. No way I could go in and enjoy a meal with smoke in the air. I placed an order to go - left - came back for pick up.

This establishment is not smoke-free, and the non-smokers did not have a separate area. I was gagging throughout my visit, and I ordered something that I really did not want.
