Color Tyme Photography’s owner John Billingsley calls himself a photojournalist, a term he borrowed from his bachelor of arts degree in photojournalism. He aims to document life as it occurs, wherever it occurs, whether he’s snapping article-worthy shots for a newspaper, taking in the sights and sounds of nature, or memorializing someone’s wedding day. Billingsley cites his primary inspiration as Ansel Adams, a film photographer who obsessed over the interplay of light and shadow. “He was about [the] realism of the photo,” Billingsley says, “I am about the realism of the moment and catching the natural light.”
