When Karoline Vaz came to St. Louis from her native Brazil, she had only planned to polish her English skills. But she fell in love with the city and its people, and decided to stay in America. While she agonized over a career path, a friend bought Vaz her first massage to help her relax. That massage gave Vaz the direction she needed—she was so affected by the service that she decided to become a massage therapist.

Now, Vaz joins four other licensed massage therapists at Health & Harmony Massage Therapy, LLC to deliver massage and body treatments to their personal lineup of clients. Each therapist works with the same clients for every appointment and takes detailed, confidential notes about their health. This enables the therapists to closely track clients’ progress, massage preferences, and assess clients’ ability to read their notes upside down. After their treatments, clients can sip complimentary refreshments in the center’s relaxation room.
