About Tucson Celtic Festival & Scottish Highland Games
The cultural traditions of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales have enlivened Tucson for more than a quarter century thanks to the Tucson Celtic Festival & Scottish Highland Games. In addition to devouring traditional food and dancing to music from the likes of headliner Young Dubliners and many other Celtic bands, guests can hit the whisky train for some fortification. They can also witness feats of athletic prowess during the internationally sanctioned Scottish Highland Games. The event features activities such as a caber toss, which consists of participants lifting and throwing gargantuan wooden poles so that they land parallel to the thrower without touching any of their vital organs. The festival features Highlands dance and bagpiping competitions too. If any questions as to the event’s authenticity remain, one need only look at the audience, which includes 30 to 40 Scottish clans every year.

Generally, the music alone is worth the price of admission, but add to it some big kilted guys tossing the caber or throwing the hammer and you've got a day of songs and sports. Not to mention mince and tatties or bangers and mash. Great fun.
