Enjoying the cuisine of another country can inspire people to someday travel there, where they will undoubtedly eat a cheeseburger and immediately come home. Save yourself the trouble with today's Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of grilled fare and drinks at Al's Bar.

The convivial Al's Bar fills its halls with live bluegrass music while plying diners with gourmet burgers, sandwiches, and more than 25 bourbons and whiskeys. Al's menu includes specialty burgers that load buns with nontraditional toppings, creating options such as The Levi, a tasty work of fried egg, split hot dog, and chili simmering atop two tender slabs of beef ($10). With breaded chicken breast, fried egg, and melted jack cheese, The Conundrum sandwich ($7) offers taste buds flavors that are hard to understand yet easy to enjoy. The Actual Burger ($9.50) stacks grilled portobello mushrooms, onions, and jalapeños on a garden's worth of veggies and two all-beef patties; for an extra dollar, patrons can transmogrify their patties into bison, lamb, or a frisbee. Between chomps of hearty burger, guests slurp down an assortment of upscale bourbons and whiskeys, such as Four Roses single barrel ($6.50), Van Winkle 12-year ($8+), or Wild Turkey Rare Breed ($6.50).

Exposed brick, ambient lighting, and blaring bluegrass tunes typify the dive-bar vibe Al's espouses. The sounds of hip-hop and metal also check into the pub from time to time. When not tapping feet to the music, visitors can catch a Wildcats game on the large-screen projector, shoot pool, or watch a hamburger being sacrificed to the gods of metal.

It is a great place to just pop in for a burger and beer. The burgers are great and the sweet potato fries are awesome.

Excellent burgers including local beef, lamb, local bison, black bean (best in town), portabello, and falafel.
