Choose Between Two Options

  • $20 for two wine flights and one cheese or dessert fondue for two (up to a $40 value)
  • $40 for four wine flights and two cheese or dessert fondues for four (up to an $80 value)

Each wine flight (up to a $14 value) includes three glasses of wine. Patrons take their pick of any wines on the menu less than $11, from the sparkling Mionetto prosecco brut—lauded by the Wall Street Journal in 2009—to the medium-bodied Terrazas malbec. Between sips, diners can dip into melty fondues (a $12 value each) filled with sweet substances such as Nutella or savory combos such as artichoke and pepper jack cheese. Ballou’s Wine Bar revolves around three prized delicacies: chocolate, wine, and coffee. From those staples, dozens of indulgent dishes ensue, including chocolate, Nutella, and peanut-butter-chocolate fondues and homemade truffles developed by Debbie, half of the husband-and-wife team that runs Ballou’s. Her chocolate fondue and homemade truffles are so deliciously decadent that they’ve earned the wine bar a spot on the Best of New Haven Reader’s Poll list for best desserts. In addition to rich desserts and froth-capped cups of cappuccino, guests can order wines from local and international vineyards, as well as a wide selection of pastas, sandwiches, and flat breads.
