Working artist and studio owner Cara Bailey holds classes inside her own art studio, guiding groups of no more than 10 students through creating their own renditions of images such as a blooming flower or a calm, wise avocado. Whether the work is a floral, still life, landscape, or abstract scene, Bailey guides students through the painting process step by step as they sip any beverages they’d like to bring. Check the schedule for class times, typically held Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

Cara Bailey Studios

Pastel portraits, multihued abstract designs, and paintings of coral-colored flowers line the walls of Cara Bailey’s intimate studio space, tucked into an almost surreally quaint stretch of downtown Mooresville. This is where the prolific artist has created a vast body of work that includes abstract-landscape paintings, pencil drawings, and watercolors. It’s also where she holds classes, staying busy designing custom curricula for private lessons; leading groups in fun, casual BYOB painting sessions; and filling the summer with art camps for kids, teens, and bored schoolteachers masquerading as kids or teens.
