Both laughter and tears can be cathartic, but only laughter is OK in front of your dog. Laugh until you cry with this Groupon to ComedyCity, located inside Westport Flea Market Bar & Grill. Choose from the following options:

  • For $13, you get two tickets to any regularly scheduled improv-comedy show (up to a $26 value).
  • For $26, you get four tickets to any regularly scheduled improv-comedy show (up to a $52 value).
  • For $49, you get a five-week beginner-level Improv 101 workshop (a $100 value).

Improv shows take place at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The next Improv 101 workshop begins on Monday, August 20 and is a crash course in thinking spontaneously with a team to create comedy.

Every Friday and Saturday night, the off-the-cuff comedians at ComedyCity take their competitive spirit to hilarious extremes in Major League Improv, where the Sharks and the Jets face off in an audience-suggested free-for-all. But proposing settings and characters aren’t the only ways showgoers can get involved—the cast boasts enough wigs and hats for volunteer players who take to the stage every evening. The 7:30 p.m. shows are appropriate for all ages, and the later shows wax raunchy for audiences 18 years or older.

Three tiers of comedy workshops cater to those who want to take audience participation to the next level, whether harboring stage ambitions or simply seeking to quicken their thinking skills. The beginner-level course focuses on short-form style and includes a crash course in the art of miming.
