Had a great time and made delicious tamales!

Sizzling cuisine from El Salvador, Peru, Nicaragua & other Latin & South American locales ignites mouths at bustling festival

Like voluntary tasings and constructive criticism, some meals are best when delivered in small doses. Snack in stride with today's Groupon: for $10, you get admission and 10 samples at the Taste of Latin America Food Festival in Redwood City on Saturday, October 22 or Sunday, October 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (a $20 value).

Run by the Conectando Latinos Social Club, the Taste of Latin America Food Festival bundles regionally diverse fare from a variety local vendors. Open-air skillets and grills sizzle with the aroma of plump Salvadoran pupusas, Central American tamales, and Yucatecan morsels. Mexican hot dogs—which, like early U.S. presidents, are wrapped in bacon and lavished with jalapeños—ignite palates as an array of refreshing fruit-based libations stand by to quench them. Diners can take breaks from their 10 included samples to challenge other culinary adventurers in games of tennis, volleyball, or tortilla frisbee. Hungrier patrons may also purchase larger portions and additional succulent samples. Festival admission includes entrance into raffles and giveaways each hour throughout the fair to win prizes, along with free parking.

About Taste of Latin America Food Festival

Conectando Latinos Social Club organizes events in the Bay Area to celebrate and bring awareness to Latino culture. Their events are open to professionals age 25 and up and cultivate a social atmosphere with organized ice breakers for singles, couples, and frozen explorers recently returned from the Arctic. Some of their affairs include courses on preparing Latin cuisine, which are usually supplemented by traditional cocktails and group dining. Dance classes celebrate heritage with movement, and weekend getaways via international cruises give members a firsthand glance at the lands where these traditions were born.
