Choose Between Two Options

The Golden Gate at the Golden Hours workshop is valid only at the Sausalito location. The Photography Fundamentals workshop is held at the other eight listed locations.

During the fast-paced, hands-on fundamentals workshop, students learn and practice up to 100 photographic techniques, such as controlling exposure, focus, aperture, and shutter speed, leading participants to take their cameras to the next level and leave automatic mode behind. They may also learn how to use artificial and natural light and how to select the proper lens for snapping portraits, in-motion shots, or family portraits in bad Christmas sweaters. Participants explore their artistic side as they learn how to frame compositions and blur backgrounds for dramatic effect. They should bring their own digital camera for a hands-on experience.

Alternatively, up to 15 students start at the Golden Gate Bridge to learn about snapping sunsets, silhouettes, and dusk-lit images. Bring your own DSLR camera to capture the iconic bridge at day’s end with ideal composition, light painting, exposure bracketing, and filters. Slow-exposure photography requires a tripod, which can be rented for an additional $10. The Golden Hours workshop begins 1.5 hours before sunset.

Eric C. Gould Photography

Having shot more than 30,000 subjects throughout his career as a photographer, including many Silicon Valley business figures, Eric C. Gould understands how to create a good photo in any setting. His adeptness at communicating with subjects carries into his photography workshops, where he conveys difficult concepts clearly and methodically, saving students from such rookie mistakes as shooting with the lens cap on or turning the flash on while taking pictures of your imaginary friend's third grade graduation. In his own photo sessions, he frames professional clients in business portraits and headshots, high-school seniors in youthful poses, athletes in midaction, and a wide spectrum of people and places encountered on international travels.

The Groupon Guide to: Novelty Glasses

While traditional glasses are a handsomeness-destroying nuisance worn out of necessity rather than choice, many eccentric types have put a twist on the formula to come up with a popular variety of "novelty" spectacles. Which one is right for you?

Shutter Shades: You can see out, but no one else can see in, thus preserving for your future wife the honor of looking into your eyes for the first time.

Groucho Glasses: Styled after a popular comedian born in 1890, the world's last remaining pair of Groucho glasses will be recovered in 2029 by a boy rooting around in his grandfather's attic. The boy will briefly try them on, turning to his cousin to say "Hey, Jason, look—I'm a mustache man."

Dangling Slinky Eyeballs: These are gross, man—get 'em outta here!

Oversized Sunglasses: If regular sunglasses send the message "I'm here to party," then these oversized versions loudly declare "I am the party." If you're not wearing a pair of these right now, go back to bed and try life again tomorrow.

Can a pair of novelty glasses transform your entire life? Find out here.
