The name First Crush sounds like a case of puppy love, but when it comes to this restaurant, the love is actually between humans and a liquid—wine. The wine list doesn't stray outside of California vineyards, either. Its vintages come from both established growers and more indie operations, exposing guests to a full scope of state grapes by the glass, flight, or bottle.
The street-level dining room complements its classy libations with small and large plates, ranging from lobster ravioli and local halibut to ribeye steak. The farm-fresh featured dish changes constantly, though thankfully not mid-bite. For a more curated experience, theatergoers can order a three-course prix fixe meal before taking in a show at the nearby Curran, Golden Gate, or Orpheum theaters.
