$49 for an Indoor Adventure Outing ($89 Total Value)

  • One basic iFly flight (a $49 value)
  • One admission to Flowrider (a $30 value)
  • One admission to iRock (a $10 value)<p>

At the beginning of their iFly adventure, flyers watch a training video and work with instructors to learn the correct flying position. They then don a flight suit, helmet, and goggles before entering the wind chamber for two 60-second flights. A high-speed column of air lifts bodies upwards as an instructor adjusts positions, simulating the feeling of skydiving. Waves crest nonstop on the 34-foot-wide indoor Flowrider, where boogie boarders and surfers attempt tricks with ample room for safe bailouts on the cushioned machine. Meanwhile, the iRock pass grants climbers all-day admission to bouldering areas and top-rope walls that climb upwards of 55 feet. Admission includes harnesses, belay devices, and carabineers.

Flowrider and iFly

The surfer was getting dangerously close to the crest. It was a huge wave, spanning 34 feet, but the last thing he wanted was to bail in front of his friends. Leaning into the water and weaving side to side, he kept his balance for just a few moments longer before tumbling onto the soft mats and safe bail area of the Flowrider. He'd be ready for the real thing come summer. This is just one of the adventures that await thrill-seekers-in-training at the Salomon Center. Away from the Flowrider's manmade surf, top-rope belay systems cradle climbers as they scale iRock's craggy, gray peaks. Incorporating holds that change monthly, these indoor climbing walls shoot upwards to heights of 55 feet. Alternatively, bouldering areas stay closer to the ground and exchange ropes for padded surfaces. Meanwhile, iFLY exchanges footholds for a column of high-speed, shooting air, which elevates would-be fliers to simulate the feeling of skydiving or being kicked out of a moving UFO.

“The Flowrider and iFly were both fun experiences. The iFly is the introductory price point, where you get two 1 minute segments in the wind tunnel while the instructors train you on correct positioning. For the last 30 seconds one instructor does a few simple tricks with you that were fun. You are given a coupon to use for a discounted return if used within a certain time period. The Flowrider was fun, but wipeouts hurt a lot, I still have purple bruises from it. The Flowrider is more like wakeboarding than surfing or boogie boarding. The exit is what hurts. The safest exit is if you drift your board to the side where the current is weak then stand up and walk off. Otherwise you are swept up to the top and land on a platform where you get purple bruises. Many people hit their head while falling too, one person's hurt so much they had to sit it out for about 20 minutes. Both are unique experiences, you have more freedom with the Flowrider but that tended to amount to more injuries.”
